  • Description: The 100 mile course begins among the rolling hills of Longview in south western Alberta.

    At 6:00 a.m. the first heat of leg one runners will make their way along highway 541 towards the majestic Rocky Mountains. The course traverses the Highwood Pass on the highest paved highway in Canada and takes you into the Kananaskis Valley. Leg nine and ten runners will travel cross-country to finish at Nakiska, the site of the alpine events of the XV Olympic Winter Games.

    The Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay Race (K-100) is entering it's 24th year as a major fundraiser for Hostelling International - Canada - Pacific Mountain Region. The pacific mountain region is part of the International Youth Hostel Federation's network of over 5000 hostels in more than 70 countries. Hostels provide affordable, quality accommodation and services for guests of all ages and nationalities. Alberta and BC hostels are ideally located for guests to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including cycling, hiking, and skiing.

    Funds raised by the K-100 are used to maintain and develop regional hostels and fund special projects according to the organization's mandate.
