Stop worrying about checking forum threads

Subscribe to your favorite forums and threads!

The great thing about BeginnerTriathlete is the awesome community to be found in the forums, where our members are kind and helpful and often answer the same beginner questions each season with patience and enthusiasm.

Forums are a useful way to organize various discussions on the same topic, and make it easy for people to find and engage in discussions that interest them. However, it's easy to post a question and forget to check back for the answer. It's also easy to miss a new post, even in a favorite forum.

The solution is thread subscriptions and forum subscriptions.

By subscribing to a thread or a whole forum, you'll receive an email notification when someone responds to a thread your following, or posts a new thread in a forum your watching.

How does it work?

It's pretty easy:

Go to your name at the top-right of the site and click "Settings" underneath your name. The fourth of five settings sections is the "Forum Settings." Click there to reveal options to "Mass Subscribe to Forums." This will open a list of all the forums available for you, and you can check the boxes next to forums you want to follow, to receive an email when someone posts a new thread. This is a great option for our state and country forums, which you might not check every day, but are often very relevant to your local tri scene.

For individual threads, go to the bottom of the thread and look for the white Action Box with blue links. Here you can choose to "Toggle Email Notification." If you find you have subscribed to too many threads and it's overwhelming, head back to the Forum Settings under your profile and you can unsubscribe to all or some of them in the same place.
