How do you work legs (squats etc...) and still ride the bike 3 times a week? I don't think I could do much of anything for 1-2 days after I do legs!
Question from Biseman & Denise2003:
How do you work legs (squats etc...) and still ride the bike 3 times a week? I quit weight lifting basically when I started to do duathalons and triathlons...I don't think I could do much of anything for 1-2 days after I do legs.
Related to this, do you think a person training tri should do squats? I have heard stories that runners would avoid squats because somehow it would slow one down. Also, I think something is wrong with my quads. Every time I do squats and lunges (with a 10 lb freeweight in each hand), my muscles would be sore for the full week!! They would get so sore that I would have trouble walking up/down stairs."
Answer:
A well balanced program has room for all of the must-do workouts in a week. [.....]
