Hold on to your tri bike for a couple of more years and put the money you would spend on a new on into a great MTB. There are some great options out there -- the Gary Fisher brand comes to mind as an alternative to Trek. But kids, riding a MTB can help your cycling when coupled with a smart training plan. A Trek bike is a great way to help you accomplish your goal of going faster and farther.
