"Hold on to your tri bike for a couple of more years and put the money you would spend on a new on into a great MTB. There are some great options out there -- the Gary Fisher brand comes to mind as an alternative to Trek. But kids, riding a MTB can help your cycling when coupled with a smart training plan. A Trek bike is a great way to help you accomplish your goal of going faster and farther."Rollin' Thunder

Man this bike is built like a rock. I really have beat on this bike for the last month and I have not had any problems yet. I do not love disc brakes yet though.

The bike shop I bought it from wanted to charge me extra for a fitting. My sales guy offered a free fitting during the sales process, but he says I beat him down so much on the price that they could not afford the fitting. That makes zero sense.

I actually fit the bike myself and have not had any problems with the fit. The geometry on the MTB is way different from a tri bike, but I am getting used to it.

Are you kidding? With full adjustments available on the front and rear shocks, this bike is like riding a magic carpet off-road. If you are looking for a MTB, pay the extra cash and get a full suspension bike.

Easy to adjust suspension is why I give this a four.

I really don't know yet. I have beat this bike into the ground for the last month, but that is no way to tell if it is durable. It is the first Trek I have owned -- I am not sure about the brand either.

Good value for the money. The shop I bought it from is a little wierd, but that has nothing to do with Trek obviously.

Great looking bike. Black paint job, Fox forks, fantastic angles. With a 29" tire on the front a 26" on the back, this bike just looks mean.

This bike moves. For a mountainbike, it likes to run. The effort on the flats to get this to 17 mph is comparable to about 22 mph on my tri bike.

Well put together bike. I would recommend to anyone who is buying a MTB to get full suspension.

I bought one for cross training and because my tri bike had gotten a little monotonous. Riding the MTB for my a.m. rides about five days a week has really rejuvenated my cycling. I find that when I ride my road bike, my leg strength is much higher, I can climb like a goat, and I am riding with a smile.

Getting out of your clips when you are going down is much trickier on a MTB than on a tri bike. That is my fault and not the fault of the bike obviously.
