Triathlon Gear Reviews
Felt F85
this is my first bike purchase (after the age of 13) and i am extremely happy with it. i bought it with the intention of doing my first sprint tri, now i've done two, and am moving up to olympic. i have added speedplay pedals, sidi shoes, a forte tri seat, and just bought a profile design alumin-x base/aero bar cockpit i am extremely excited about. i feel like it really fits me, the yellow was a little crazy at first but now i love it...feels fast, and it makes me want to be faster. everytime i look at my bike (displayed proudly in my living room despite having a 2 car garage) she screams, "RIDE ME!"

Overall how could you go wrong even if I never do another tri again, it is a very good value for the $$$.

Functional belt. Very durable. Fairly comfortable. Takes a few minutes to learn the "tricks" of getting the bottles in and out.

Great saddle. Good value. I have not ridden the road or typhoon models, but I have NO complaints about this saddle. Padding on the seat has not been an issue.

They are a cheaper alternative from my Newtons, and will continue running in them.

This is a great bike for those on a budget that want a race inspired bike that is comfortable all day. The technology that went into developing this bike's big brother, the ProMachine, has trickled down to the Streetfire SSX and made it into a all around great bike.

I needed a bike for triathlons. Sure, I could have bought a used tri bike for maybe less. But the LBS has proven to me on numerous occasions that service can be more than a slogan.
This is possibly the best bike for the money considering my needs.
Profile Design Aerolite Aerobar
As tall as I am, the wind is always the enemy, so aero bars are a huge advantage. My first race with these bars was Buffalo Springs, where the road conditions were terrible (broken carbon fiber bottle cages and elbow rests littered the entire course!), but these bars withstood the punishment. That same durable construction means these bars are hefty. That extra weight up high like this, especially with an aero bottle, takes some adjustment, but it's worth the gains, IMHO.

Simply put, this is my first experience with aero bars and I'm thrilled. Put them on my bike, went out for a ride and spent the bulk of 35 miles in aero position. Took some time getting used to the feel and control, but it's very comfortable. I was skeptical about whether or not aero bars would help with speed, but not anymore ... an added 3+ mph is no problem! Highly recommended for anyone on the fence about trying aero bars and doesn't want to spend a lot of cash.

Trek Equinox 5
My first "real" bike in 15 years. I can't give an objective opinion since this is my first "adult" bike, but after some serious shopping I'm really satisfied with this bike.
