"I love my Vibrams. Back when I wore regular "high heeled" running shoes, I had to replace them frequently. With Vibrams, there is no cushioning that becomes worn out or compacted. There's just the soles and the uppers. On my very first pair, which lasted for years, I finally wore through the rubber on the bottom and my toes were touching the pavement, so I bought this "new" pair on eBay. I'm happy to have them. I can still use my old pair for weighlifting, because they are structurally still in good shape, except for the wear on the bottom. It's also great to look at the bottoms of these to see wear patterns and help diagnose stride problems. My right shoe wears faster than the left, and I've been able to identify hip dropping on my right side that is causing my foot to twist a bit at the end of my stride. I'm working on correcting that. Quality of Construction
These Vibrams, and my previous pair, last and last and last.
Fit
Lots of adjustment capability to make them snug.
Comfort
Initially one of the shoes rubbed against my Achilles and caused bleeding. Either I formed a callous there, or I adjusted the shoe or my stride, but it stopped bleeding.
Adjustability
Lots of adjustment capability to make them snug.
Durability
These Vibrams, and my previous pair, last and last and last.
Value
Unlike regular running shoes, there's no padding to compress and wear out over time, so I can keep running in these until I literally wear holes in the bottom. And that takes a LONG time and lots of miles.
Appearance
They look cool. I'm not into the super crazy, Newton-style colors of running shoes that are popular right now, so these are good for me.
Performance
Great performance.
Strengths
Having worked my way SLOWLY AND SAFELY into barefoot-type shoes, I've had a lot of success with them. I can figure out any weaknesses or mobility limitations and make adjustments, instead of just cushioning my feet to death and enabling bad form problems. Also, it's nearly impossible to twist my ankle in these. Because I'm not up on the "platform" of a sole, my foot can't tip over the way it would in a regular shoe. And if I step on something hazardous like a nut, my foot feels it immediately and I can react, instead of being surprised when my ankle starts rolling.
Weakness
If you don't know what you are doing, and you don't start with shoes like this very gradually, you can sustain serious injury.
Ease of use
Obviously trickier to put on than regular running shoes, but the Velcro strap makes it easier.
