  • Comments: Now that a year has passed, I decided it was time to get my results into my race log! Watching this year's race on line reminded me I never did it as I was sort of disappointed in my times since they were almost the exact same as 2007!

  • Comments: This was a well planned race...my only complaint was the morning traffic which caused a delay in the start time. The volunteer support was fantastic. I enjoyed the music and spectators on the course.

  • Comments: What a way to end a mediocre season. I love my new bike and now feel justified in having bought it. I also finally feel like a triathlete and not just someone who dabbles in it.

  • Comments: I would give it a 5 but the venue is just not the "Austin" one would expect. It is just not that attractive. The race is great except for that.

  • Comments: My first half-ironman! See http://results.active.com/pages/oneResult.jsp?pID=43347167&rsID=707... The swim was short but it didn't phase me (nor would another 200 yards). I'm happy with 19.4mph by feel (no HRM, strange bike, first HIM). I could have used some more running fitness, could have dropped 10-15 minutes off my time. Need to practice my transitions - knock off 2-4 minutes there too! The dry Austin season made for ugly, dusty, brown conditions. The parking was screwed up but we got there early so missed everything. Overall, I was very happy.

  • Comments: This was the funnest race I have been too. Tailgating at the BT tent was a blast and doing the swim part of the relay was the bomb. I don't have any desire to do the whole Austin 70.3 again but I will do any of the three sports as a relay just so I have time to cheer at the team tent. We will do it again next year (just better).

  • Comments: Keith and his crew did a great job. This was my second HIM, but my first Ironman race. I was pleased. I am planning on OLY's and Sprints only next year, but I am sure if Brian and I have the urge to do a HIM, this will be it. Good times.

  • Comments: The bus pick up/drop off was delayed due to people walking to race site (instead of riding the bus) and doing so in the road. This limited buses getting back to pick up more people at the expo. Suggestion? Do body marking at the expo for athletes waiting in line. This bus issue delayed the race start by about 15 minutes. Swim course was short. With all the complaints over it, there's no doubt it will be correct next year. The tailgate area was an incredable idea. Thank you Ainsley! It gave groups or family and friends a chance to set up an area in comfort to cheer on their athletes. I know we were loud- our incredible BT group. The food and music were second to none. I'll be back next year- maybe just as a spectator or volunteer or just relay but mostly to cheer athletes on with this difficult course.

  • Comments: I really felt like a serious triathlete at this race. It was so big, and everything was done on such a grand scale. Great numbers of volunteers (which I thanked every one I saw) and great numbers of spectators made this a "don't miss" race! I absolutly had a blast

  • Comments: Parking was a disaster. Events started late because of it. Swim course too short. Bike course was nice, run course was pretty awesome as well although tough. Volunteers were the best I have seen at any race. Post race was slightly above average. It didn't match the hype I had heard previously about this race, but it also didn't dissapoint at all. Big thanks to my mom and stepdad for coming to the race. It is so nice to have someone there for support and encouragement. Although I wasn't violently ill and half dead like after the Full Vineman, it was nice to have people help with the post-race recovery!!! Now it is time to hire a coach and crank up my training. Next year Jan-Jun is 100% commited to tri with 20-30 hrs/wk. I want a podium at 70.3, I want Clearwater and I will get it next season.

  • Comments: I've already mentioned in a thread what I'd work on for next year, but overall I think Keith's organization is doing a good job. There were plenty of aid stations on the run(though I'd like more of them equipped with the cold towels) and they did a good job of marking cracks & problems on the bike course. There were some nice touches such as the Endurolytes at several aid stations. They have a good thing going, and if they can work on the bike/athlete transit for before/after the race then they'll be in even better shape.

  • Comments: Overall, I was very happy with this race. All times improved over last year's times (except T1, which was only a few seconds slower) and I beat last year's time by over 30 minutes. I think Keith and Endorfun put on a great race and will definitely do this race again. The volunteers are great and there is always support on the course for those of us at the back.

  • Comments: We couldn't keep our 1- and 3-year-old daughters out in that heat/dust, so we booked it out of there as soon as we could; I didn't have a chance to exploit any of the post-race offerings. Obviously, transportation was a huge issue at this event, but I'm sure that the appropriate lessons were learned and that changes will be made for next year's event.

  • Comments: As always Endorfun put on an excellent event. They handled the size/scale of the race fantastically. (grown from 900 people last year to 2000 this year). Volunteer and course support was awesome, including all the comstumed/themed aid stations. Lots of little details were covered that just made the race great for the athletes -- extra sand for swim start, very well marked bike routes and hazards, traffic control, sponges and wet towels, fully stocked aid stations, the tailgating along the course, ... (Swag note: long-sleeve technical shirt and a running hat) They did an amazing job making the race spectator-friendly, too. Vendors selling food, covered tents with tables to keep people out of the sun, bounce house and video game stations for kids. The tailgating area along the run course was awesome; there were probably 15-20 tents set up with different groups cheering for their teammates/friends. The BT tent was awesome, with more food and drink than we could consume (who

  • Comments: Fun weekend! Good times, good people, etc. etc. I was slow, but this was a training race for me. And it was a swim/bike PR. The swim was short, BTW. :) I'm not THAT fast! I haven't run that much since my surgery so I really could not expect a good run. I just wanted to test out the knee. On to IMAZ...

  • Comments: Lots of folks have noted the parking and Keith gave a great response. My observation was that the bus drivers were crazy dangerous, driving far too fast down the road pre dawn with lots (100's) of folks walking and then again later when stragglers were still out there. It was a great day. Thanks to all for sharing. Our family bought a black lab from a farm on the way home :)
