  • Comments: I felt like I finished in a decent time and there really wasn't any food left for me. I got a yogurt and a tiny sample cup of soup. The vendors were packing up. Kinda sucks since most of the group finished behind me. I think non-runners partaking in the food probably contributed to it. There was a really good band playing.

  • Comments: Having never run a marathon, its hard to comment on the course, aid stations, etc. The course is as scenic as it gets in Dallas. Seeing the number of people running off of the course and into the bushes in the first few miles, I suppose there could have been more toilets early on. My complaints are with the area around the American Airlines Center (AAC) where the race started and finished: I was confusing to figure out where you were supposed to go, so more and better signs could have helped. The AAC seemed to have a real hard time getting people into the arena. All of the entrances weren't open, and the lines to get in were very long at times (sometimes in the 5 min. range). Thats a lot when you're in your running clothes and the wind is wipping around the buildings. They handle 50,000 for sports events, so they should have done a better job with this crowd. The worse decision, was to put the bag check outside. To check your bag, you had to go outside, and then they

  • Comments: they didnt' have finisher t-shirts this year, just hats, which is no big deal I don't really need another shirt.. water stops had plenty of water and gatoraid when I went through them, the cold weather didn't stop the volunteers from coming out. not as many bands as in the past it seemed and they didn't seem to have much food afterwards. I was told that this year they actually hired a company to put on the race instead of having it being all volunteers, didn't really notice a big difference but I'm glad it sold out.. I talked with lots of people that came in for this race from out of town/state just becuase they heard it's a fast course. It be nice to have this keep growning and be a bigger race. they capped it at 5000 marathon and 10,000 half and relay

  • Comments: The bottom line is that it was not there for me to qualify this year. Oh well. The good news is that I still finished in the top 10% overall among finishers, so I cannot be ashamed of my time. I look forward to improving.

  • Comments: After the race there was some confusion among the event staff as to where the finisher shirts were. Since we came into the finish in the rain they were supposed to be moved inside...but no one inside knew where they were. My sis was bummed because she wants to wear her finisher shirt at all times since its her first. We emailed marcus (one of the race directors) and it is being taken care of, so I can't complain too much about that. It seems that every year at this event the food is lacking at the finish. I must say that I have been to 5ks that provide more food for finishers. Maybe there was more for those that came in at a faster time, but for us all that was left were bananas(as always), some frozen smoothies, and light n fit dannon. Being that it was freezing ass cold, frozen smoothies and cold yogurt were not the best food choices in my opinon. However, the massive bacon cheesburger I inhaled post race was a much better decision!

  • Comments: I liked the idea of having the staggaring start; however the stagger should be slightly longer so that when the half mary meets up with the mary runners everyone is running close to the same pace. The finishing area was a mad house and could have been better organized. It would have been helpful to have more going on during that 14 - 18 mile stretch. That is a bear when runnig a marathon, and having little distractions make it that much harder.

  • Comments: This race was incredibly well organized. Lots of great(!) aid stations with entertainment. Volunteers were wonderful! For my first race, I couldn't have asked for anything better (except the weather).

  • Comments: This was a great event. The volunteers were fantastic and the crowds along the route were really into it. Many of the homes along the route were having marathon watching parties; complete with booze, music, food, etc. The marathon will be even better after the construction of Victory park is complete. The developer is working on a 75 acre downtown development where the White Rock marathon will be held. The development is supposed to be the "Times Square" of Dallas.
