  • Comments: I love this race. It has a nice, homey feel. There are about 1,000 runners, but it feels very small -- I've started to recognize people from year to year. This is the first year they used timing chips, which was nice. I didn't get the post-race pancakes this year, but it's fun that they offer a big breakfast and a raffle. And the free wine glass (and wine!) is a great bonus.

  • Comments: I love this race! There are enough competitive folks to make it interesting, but most people are super low-key about it. The run itself is beautiful, starting at the top of a hill with gorgeous views of the valley and then running along a quiet road next to rolling hills and vineyards and trees and cattle and sheep. And of course I love the pancake breakfast.

  • Comments: This is a really fun race. It's a fundraiser for the Carneros Fire Department, and the firefighters make pancakes for everyone after the race. Plus, every finisher gets a glass of wine with a sample from Artesa Winery, which is pretty awesome.

  • Comments: Given my training pace, I was hoping for 9 min/mi or 8:30 best case scenario. So coming in around 8:02 was an extreme surprise. Its amazing what race conditions (and a nut with a hula hoop) can do to improve individual performance. P.S. This race made me finally dump my lousy Timex Trail Runner Bodylink system. The GPS stinks and lost signal at the start line when I was surrounded by other racers. Now I have a Garmin Forerunner 305. Its big and bulky but it works wonderfully. I love it.
