  • Comments: Like most of the Ironhead races, it's a solid, well-executed event, even if the frills are minimal. The weather wasn't great this year, but I still think it's a pretty good course. Lot's of BTers out there, too.

  • Comments: Aside from the weather, which is uncontrollable, I think that this race is a very good one. I've heard a few complaints about lack of volunteers, but that is not what I experienced. There were volunteers everywhere there needed to have been one. i thought that they did an excellent job!

  • Comments: I had lots of fun. The harsh conditions actually were a motivatior for me. I feel sorry for all the people who did this race as their first tri (there were alot) I would have given up had it been my first, haha. Overall, it was good, and I am really proud of my top 10 finish in my age group. Not bad for an ex-clyde in his first year. :)

  • Comments: I am not sure that I will do this race again. Don't want to be negative, I had fun but I wish there were more people directing the bikers and the runners. Several times I did not if I was going the right way. Saw one person go off track and had to u-turn. Loved the run course though.

  • Comments: It's clear that Dallas Athletes has better support and a lot more fun atmosphere. Jack Weiss isn't known to focus on fun which is fine but the vlounteer support here was not great. I think the weather contributed to the overall negative comments I was hearing out there but on a dry day I think this is a good race.

  • Comments: Ironhead always puts on decent races. They are consistently OK. There was lots of food - bannanas, oranges, pizza, spaghetti, coffee, honey buns. The Kawanias are the owners of the race. They did a great job with the vonlunteer part of the event.

  • Comments: Now. About the time lost in T1, and on the bike fiddling with my shades: I was 1:02 from placing 9th in my age group, and 2:13 from placing 7th. Had I not lost that time I would have finished in the top ten of my age group, and maybe an outside chance of pacing 7th! Lessoned learned!! This was the first race in McKinney put on by Ironhead. It was everything you could expect from an Ironhead race: well organized, with a lot of shouting. The bike and run course was probably more challenging than any other race I've done in DFW, so it was fun. The only complaint that I have is with the safety of the bike course. There were way too many blind driveways and curves. There were a couple downhills that I hit 30mph, and if a car were to have come to the end of their drive there was no way they could have seen me coming in time to stop. The blind driveways were mainly due to people not cleaning up their property. But remember, this is the country!

  • Comments: For a first-year race, this one was very well done. Everything was organized and on-time. The bike course was technical, which I liked, and the run course was pleasant. Plenty of volunteers and support from the city. As expected from Jack, no real festivities at the event; however, the pasta was a nice change for food, and the technical shirts were nice swag. Good venue.

  • Comments: First race of the season after an extended down time. I wasn't expecting much and didn't get much. Obviously I just need more time on the road Good event and very organized for a first year event.
