  • Comments: I really liked the scenic aspects of the course. I even saw a deer between mile 7 and 8. There's also a point around mile 2 where you leave the road and go onto a paved bike trail through a stand of walnut trees. Being walnut trees, they'd already lost all their leaves and this string of brightly colored runners - hot orange, yellow, green etc - goes bobbing their way through the desolate looking woods. It was quite pretty, like a strange migration of exotic animals.

  • Comments: This has never been a favorite course of mine. In the past it's been crowded, but not so much this time. But between the hills and the inconsistent terrain, it's definitely not a favorite.

  • Comments: Excellnt first Marathon (of any kind). I had fun, completed the race and performed slightly better than expected (planned 4:00:00). Race was well organized and run efficiently. Started on time, had tons of worker support, police support and photographers. Massages available at end and a great barbeque too.

  • Comments: The traffic was backed up so badly; that many people started this race late, myself included. This course is ok for the first half; but really boring for the second. I have ran this race before and the only reason I did it again was to be able to run 2 marathons in 2 days.

  • Comments: I feel so very fortunate to have as friends, the Donkey Nation. You all have helped me in so many ways. Ben, thank you for believing in me, and even taking a break from your guys weekend to call me last night! DJ, thanks for your ongoing support, even if you did leave me a message at 2pm Saturday, wishing me good luck and to "race the plan" tomorrow! (no thanks, didnt' want to do it again)Lisa, thanks for your support and text! My other donkey buds, thanks for all of the inspires and well wishes...I did not get to see them until this evening as I was commputerless. It was a great day for me, pulling an effort out of myself that I did not know I could! Even with the "collapse" at the end, I still was able to say what a great race it was! And, having Dad there, and seeing him so excited about the whole thing was just amazing. (just wish he hadn't been so worried when he first saw me in the med tent). OH YEAH!!! there were two girls cheering for people around mile 8...I pointed to my

  • Comments: Around 6000 runners, inc about 1500 doing full marathon. Volunteers were GREAT!!! Plenty of food/drink for 5hr finishers. Course was beautiful, although maybe a little tough for 1st timers. And last 3mi or so are generally uphill. Saw many drop-outs after mile 16 being bused back to starting area. Nice bands on course, but quiet areas too in State Park. Post-race meal was good- inc veggie options.

  • Comments: This was a nice small race. Expo was fine, nothing fancy. The shirt was very nice, I liked having the option to upgrade to a tech shirt. There were plenty of volunteers, lots of aid stations, but hte post race spread sucked. Runners were limited to either 1 piece of pizza or a hot dog or a burger. There were no bottles of water or coke or gatorade, but there were lots of people handing out cups of water.

  • Comments: The race is getting larger and more came because Chicago was a bust this year. Water and gatorade every mile or more, lots of volunteers. Weather was pleasant, but the day got into low 70's and they start later than most at 8:30, and then were 20 minutes late witing for everyone to get parked and in, that took me into the hotter part of the day especially on the run at 18.5 and back. Very well organized. And a really decnet course - I like out and back places. Massage finished just as I did and I had a couple legs with cramps in the calves.
