  • Comments: The race is well organized, with great volunteers. Given the conditions, I was even more grateful than usual for their efforts! Trying to get basic post-race food in the finish area was a bit of a mess. Some people were in line, others weren't, and the line moved extremely slowly--kind of miserable when you are cold and wet and just want to grab something to eat so you can get warm and dry. Doubt many folks stuck around for the post race activities.

  • Comments: It was nice to see Shannon before the race. We were able to run together for the first 3-4 miles. Then I took off as I was feeling pretty good. Saw her pass me back as I waited for the john. Tried to catch back up, but she was super consistent. Saw her at the finish, and she looked fresh and strong. Ready for Kansas. This was a good race for me. I like pushing my body like this. I'll be sore, but nothing that I can't recover from. I know many people look at a half as easy, but for me, I've found my match. It was fun. I won't say never, but I probably won't see this distance again.

  • Comments: Had a band set up. It would have been nice to have more port-o-lets on course (had 3-4 every 2 miles, should have had 6-8 every 2 miles). Food service was quick. Coffee service very slow (individual k-cups).

  • Comments: I will let the organizers of this marathon know that they need to keep volunteers on the course till the complete cut off time has come and gone. Also make sure the end of the course is well marked

  • Comments: This race is not as organized as it could be. There was no information on the website to indicate how frequently aid stations would be positioned on the half-mary course, and nothing to tell us what drinks/gels (if any) would be available. Hunted down a volunteer at packet pickup to get this information. On race morning they announced aid stations would be every 2 miles. But the first aid station was at mile 1.5, and from then on, they were all "around" 2 miles apart. Could have used an extra portajohn at each aid station (although there never seem to be enough). There was plenty of food available at the finish, even for my mom, who is often left with little or nothing by the time she crosses the line. The police support was wonderful! Lots of cops along the course--one guy even blared the stereo on his squad car so we could have some music. Overall, I would do this race again.

  • Comments: I know the marathoners had some course problems, but our half course was easy to follow. The volunteers were great but I think the water stations were way too small. All in all I'd say this was a well done event and I'd totally do it again. The early start was nice because we avoided the heat and then I had the whole day to be lazy! I'd like to add that this race goes to show that my 98% vegan lifestyle (I still eat fish on occasion) is helping my training and I am getting all the nutrition I need. I have been eating this way for over 10 weeks now and I feel GREAT. Anyone that thinks vegan eating is too hard or that is will hinder their performance, I invite you to ask me questions or talk to me about it! I am so happy I have made this change in my life, and I feel like a million bucks!

  • Comments: Lots of people. Glad they changed the route. It was getting hot out there, but on the way back in, we were shaded really well. Good call on the new route for the race. The cops in Aurora were high fiving us as we went by and blaring music from the back of their SUV's. That was pretty cool.

  • Comments: I am a hell of a long way away from doing a full marathon. However, I would really like to try another 1/2 mary later this year. I ran a 10-mile run in February at an 11:30 pace and would like to do that or better in my next 1/2 marathon. Or, just seeing what I can do when I've been able to train like I should under healthier conditions...I think I would be pleased.

  • Comments: I thought this would be horribly boring - the idea of a point to point race that was just along one road - but I actually liked it. It was interesting seeing the diversity of the communities along Colfax Avenue (there were even the occasional homeless looking sort watching the race with a smile on their face, cheering the runners) and the spirit of the volunteers along the way was quite infectious. The weather was perfect, though as the sun came up I was glad I was finishing my race because there's hardly any shade along the way ... I was guessing the full marathoners were really having a hot, bright last half of their race. Other than the lack of portapotties at the half- start, it seemed pretty well organized with enough hydration stops along the way. I also thought the medal was pretty which is always a plus in my book :)
