  • Comments: 1) Could have had a better bike course, last year was on better roads & less traffic - but some people missed turns. Also, found out later that the Park forced the last minute bike course change - they wouldn't open the maintenance gate. 2) Warm water at finish and pay for soft drinks - that sucks 3) awful food tent already picked over for those that do the longer event - although I couldn't have choked down much with the warm water. 4) directing cars to parking by going down a road with low hanging branches, when people have bikes on top of the car = brilliant 5) surprised so few people used the outdoor shower to cool off after the race...one of the perks of the site. 6) water is murky enough you can't see your own hand, but that is CC for you. 7) good crowd with good competition, and mostly well mannered and safe.

  • Comments: After the race I met another member of BT and I think my goal is now to add one person from the forum from each race I attend. This was a great race for me mentally. It was only my second Olympic, and I went from 2:45 at Deer Creek to 2:28 here! That is a PR by 17 minutes. If I could only do that again at my next one I would be in contention for one of those top three spots! :-)

  • Comments: I was a little dissapointed in the post race drinks and food, everything seemed to be picked over and chewed on. At least the watermelon was still cold, which partially made up for the warm water they had at the finish. Luckly I had ice cold powerade in the car that went down really good.

  • Comments: saw fellow BT'er Roywidget - somehow he identified me - must have been my sparkling personality (or the shirt with bananas on it) overall a good race with a PR swim , a decent bike and a crappy run. Good measuring stick for triathlon fitness. Close to an overall PR on this course. HFP - kudos for not being transition police like at Deer Creek. With the Girls Tri Too going on at the same time they kicked us out early at Deer Creek. This time they allowed us to stay with reminders to stay out of the way HFP- boos to you for nothing cold anywhere. It was cooler than expected for the race , could have easily been 10 degrees warmer if the sun wasnt behind clouds. They had no ice anywhere, even at the finish. No cold drinks, only air temp well water and heed. I watched a woman fall down and throw up being attended by paramedics (some mild heat exhaustion) - the only thing they could treat her with is ... air temp well water. This is both a safety concern and a my money concern. HFP has

  • Comments: I've done many HFP races over the years and have always been extremely satisfied with the races they put on. Especially since they are able to keep their prices lower than anyone else I've ever seen. With that said, I was a little dissappointed in a few parts of this race. The swim had to be a tremendous distance short of 1500 meters. I had a moderate swim at best and PR'ed by 4 minutes. Numerous other people said the same thing. 4 minutes means it was not only a little bit short but likely a couple hundred yards. After years of doing these races and with GPS technology, I just can't see how this can happen. I would love to see mile markers on the run and have them located properly. This seems like such an easy inexpensive thing to do especially with GPS. My first mile was at 6:55 and my second was 10:45. Lastly, the post race tent actually had decent food, but I couldn't find anything to drink. They had warm water from a water jug at the finish line, but nothing in
