  • Comments: This is a tough course but is a first class race. It is extraordinarily well organized. Frank Lowery the RD does an excellent job. The activities, expo, meals, pre-race, post-race, aid stations, swag, etc. are great. The gripes I had in the changing tents are volunteer related and out of his control. He could have used a few more in there but can you really complain about a race that has 2 volunteers for every racer? He is obviously a sadist! You will understand what I mean after you race this course! But this is a race that any serious triathlete should do at least once in his/her career. This course really shows you what you are made of.

  • Comments: This is clearly a premier event and anyone that is thinking of signing up should do so without any second thoughts. Be ready, it certainly isn't an easy one! Top notch volunteers and course support! Also, this is the second race that I have used the www.myathletegps.com gear and my family LOVES it!!! instead of waiting for me to slowly make my way around, they sat at Cheesecake factory and watched until I was back to their next cheering spot! I used it at IMWI and they watched from across the country and felt closer to the event than seeing some numbers posted along the way. I would strongly recommend anyone looking at using this type of tracking to take a shot at it... it is a great product!

  • Comments: I have to admit, I was pretty disapointed with my results. I was sort of sulking about it the entire next day and skipped the awards ceremony. Why go? I also even had thoughts of giving up 'racing'. I thought that maybe I would do the events, but just take it easy and enjoy the race more. Why push SO hard, go through SO much pain, for crappy results? I was so disapointed with not hitting my 6 hour goal. I know it was lofty, but achievable. I took a little consolation knowing that I improved my Silverman half time by about an hour from two years ago and also set a HIM PR by 34 minutes, but not much. Now the interesting part. Several people congratulated my on my "1st" place. I was like "huh? Impossible". Well I checked my results and sure enough, squeeked out a first place! I was, and still am, shocked. That guy that I passed with less than 0.2 miles to go? Was leading my division. I got him by 44 seconds. My run ended up being tops in my division, and I made up more

  • Comments: Great race and organization. Tough course. Weather was perfect for the event. If weather is ever off the day will be very long.

  • Comments: This is just an awesome race and I hope to be back next year. Overall, this day was a success. It was an extremely humbling experience. I am disappointed that I caused so many problems for myself, but I am also somewhat proud that I was able to keep going, pull myself out of some really dark places, and finish as best I could. I have a pretty bad temper and frustrate easily, but instead of pitching my bike into the desert, I calmly handled the problem and continued. During the run, there were so many times I just wanted to stop and walk, but I didn't allow myself to. I knew I would not forgive myself for giving up. I still managed to cut around 20 minutes off last year's time. I'm looking forward to a few weeks off (NO SBR) and then easing back into half marathon training.
