  • Comments: Nothing wrong with the race itself. A 5K on closed streets. However, the post events were real weak, and they were packed! It took me a longtime just to weave through the crowd and find a garbage can to throw out banana peels. Jacket we got is okay, not great. Nice surprise to get a free running hat. I always need more of those since they get real nasty real quick. Race lost a few points when they lost my bag at gear check too.

  • Comments: For a neighborhood 5K, it seemed to go fine. But I don't get why it would have been so hard to just put up some corral signs with paces on them. They can't cost that much money. It was kind of impossible to gauge where we should line up, because the crowd rendered the back of the pack invisible and so the whole crowd was fast runners mixed in with people who walked the whole thing. I'm sure I wasted energy maneuvering around them in the beginning. Also, they listed "bike parking" on the website which led me to believe they'd have racks set up for bikers, but when we got there, "bike parking" was more like "find an empty segment of public fence and lock your bike to it." That was a bit misleading. But hey, I PR'd so all is forgiven.

  • Comments: I'm actually surprised that this race wasn't a disaster like RAM's other races. Of course I had someone else pick up my packet, didn't have to park and didn't attempt to take part in the post race festivities. The idea of waiting in line behind hundreds of other people for "free" food just wasn't appealing. I'd do this one again though.

  • Comments: The start to this race is 4 blocks from my house. Every year I swear I am not going to do it because it is not that great of an afterparty and it's always cold, but it's just too hard to resist rolling out of bed, jogging down the street and running around the neighborhood. An added extra is watching the traffic on Armitage go into full meltdown mode because they are stuck early on a Sunday morning. I don't know why that makes me happy but it does.
