  • Comments: I want to make this an annual event since it's right outside my door and so well done. Not sure I want to train for January marathons, anymore, though. They never seem to go well. Maybe just the half or a relay. Or maybe train for a December marathon and then decide whether to do full or half on this one. Anyway, great event and great for Jackson, MS.

  • Comments: If you run and you live in MS (or even if you don't!) then you need to run this race. Sure I loved it because it was my first half and the biggest race I've been in but it was still great. The volunteers were awesome. The bands and drumlines were a nice touch. Everything was perfect (even the weather). I will run this again.

  • Comments: This a hidden gem of a race people. The weather gets crazy sometimes (it was 70 and 98% humidity last year). But the organization, the volunteers, the post race food, and the beer truck are awesome. The course is scenic and a challenge. There is just a cool vibe with it. It's not a Rock and Roll marathon... it's the Blues marathon. A guy plays a blues version of the star spangled banner on his guitar to kick off the race. They put harmonicas and blues cds in the race packets. Oh, and there's a pub crawl the night after. If you ran you got a wristband, and the wristband gets you on the bus that takes you bar hopping. Awesome. Do this race, people!

  • Comments: The race was good, not great. The expo was easy to navigate and there were tons of volunteers around. The race got started on time. The course was extremely hilly - nothing terribly steep, just constant climbing. THe pavement on the roads was terrible, not that the organizers could have done anything about it. The hills were jsut relentless, especially in the last 6 miles. It was bood to do this one for MS. I can't imagine running the other MS marathon in September- the heat would be brutal. The volunteers were outstanding, very vocal and helpful.

  • Comments: Despite the weather, this race has done a fantastic job in the two years they have held it. The threat of storms kept the musicians off the course, so that was a bummer, but understandable. It's just a really well organized and fun event with a really tough course that happened to have a double whammy of some major humidity today.

  • Comments: I thought this was a good race for the first year. I only wished there was more music on the course. I hope this becomes a great success for Mississippi because it was well done, the course was hard but good, and the weather was good.

  • Comments: As for the overall course based on my ability option, I picked just right, because too hard is to severe. I'd say this was about the hardest course I would ever like to do. Definitely the hardest I've done to date. For a much better runner, it wouldn't be a good course for a PR, but it would be a pretty good challenge I would think. As for the other categories (organized, volunteers, drink stations, activities, post race), yes doesn't even begin to cover it. And it was the INAUGURAL Mississippi Blues Marathon/Half Marathon. That's right, the very first one, and it was one of the best run events I've done. I'm so happy about that, too. When they announced this, I knew this could be a great event for the city, but I was somewhat skeptical about how it would turn out with it being the first one ever. The Mississippi Track Club put on a marathon for a bunch of years on the Natchez Trace, and the highest number of participants was 200. This year, after the reorganiztion and move,
