  • Comments: This has been the single hardest and funnest accomplishment of my life. I have moments where I feel like it was nothing, like anyone can do it. And then I remember all the early mornings I sacrificed and the long rides and lonely runs and hours spent in the pool. My house became a mess and I rarely saw my friends. As part of me is happy it’s over and I can do normal things again, a bigger part of me already misses it. It went by too fast. I will never again have my first Ironman. This has been a goal of mine since I was 8 years old. I lost sight of it through the many years of addiction. I thought I was meant for a life ending in tragedy. Now, I feel like my life has purpose and meaning. I feel like I can really accomplish anything I put my mind too. I wish I could impart that on everyone I know, especially those who struggle. Life takes work, goals and dreams take work but boy are they worth it. That 30 seconds it took me to round the bend and run down the chute are

  • Comments: This was a great 1st ironman. The experience was incredible, along with the volunteers. The entire atmosphere during the whole week was awsome. Everyone was nice and friendy, it is an experience that words can not explain. Meeting all of these triathletes and friends of friends was on of the best parts. I truely appreciated the experience and support from my family and friends.

  • Comments: I am truly amazed at how far I've come. 2 years ago I had not exercised in 10 years. And I joined this women's boot camp with a friend. I thought I was going to absolutely die running 1/3 of a mile when I first started. And after a few weeks, Scott encouraged us to write out goals. He told us to write a goal that would shock the heck out of ourselves. So, given that until I started boot camp I'd never exercised in sneakers in my entire life, and that I had never rode a bike that shifted before (last one was when I was 8 and had a banana seat & streamers on the handlebars), I decided my goal was to do a sprint tri. Scott quickly jumped in that the goal wasn't big enough for me. So we upped it to an Oly. I went an bought a bike 6 weeks before my first tri. I started (largely unsuccessfully) attempting to run. In March 2008 I did my first tri. I walked a lot of the 10k run. I did a bunch more sprints last summer and it wasn't until July that I did my first tri where I ran the

  • Comments: Upon taking my shower after the race I discovered that I had a wicked case of monkey butt from the pad in my Desoto 400 mile bike shorts. I was rubbed raw in several places and had to resort to some diaper rash cream for relief. Had run 20 miles in the Desoto shorts during training with no problems, but they won't work for me during an IM.

  • Comments: This was the most challenging event I've every accomplished in my life, even more difficult than climbing Mt. Whitney last August (which led to a knee surgery in September 08). The 140.6 was not the issue; it was the bike time cut-off that made this mentally challenging. I finished the bike leg at 5:08 pm, only 22 minutes before cut off. Psychologically, that is a terrible constraint.

  • Comments: I'll be forty-six in a month. I didn't sign up for LP 2010, but feel certain that I'll do it again. Can I do it faster? Yeah, maybe... :) or not... I love this race.

  • Comments: This is a spectacular "must do" race. Lake Placid is beautiful, The organization is wonderful and the volunteers are above and beyond. I do want to take the time to thanks each and every volunteer that made this a "must do" event. My daughter has been mad at me ever since Saturday morning when I didn't sign up for 2010. She had so much fun, she wants to come back. I think we will come back and volunteer as a family and give back to those people that gave so much to me. Thanks

  • Comments: I had a blast at this race - the volunteers were very friendly and helpful, the course was great - a real test, and the area was beautiful to spend some time in. We will be back next year - staying much closer to transition.
