  • Comments: Having been at the Boise Ironman 70.3 the previous weekend (admittedly more expensive)... this course paled by comparison in nearly every aspect. It was wet and a bit cold, but this is Washington so I am not sure that I can give the race director a full pardon. Parking was a problem right away, managing 4 races at once appeared to challenge their system, lots of twists and turns in and out of transitions, mile markers on bike and run courses absent, food and drink okay to below average, cheap T-shirt and no finishing medal. Pricing seemed to be the same as the Olympic events that I did last year, so where did the proceeds go? Good event to get out for experience early in the season, but did not have the feel of a great event... particularly for beginners. If I were doing this again, I would find a different venue.

  • Comments: I think I will do this race again whenever I get a chance. Looking forward to doing the same course for the Black Diamond in September. I need to do a bit more stretching in practice and find a nice foam roller to help with my IT band as it was tight after the race and was causing my knee to hurt a bit. More Core training will also come in handy there so now I have some goals!

  • Comments: I gotta say a couple of things about the way the race was set up. For the most part it was great…the kids out there volunteering were very capable and the nice lady at the run turnaround…I want your NUMBER. But there were NO mile markers save the one on the run at 6 miles. And then, ok, you know what? Go ahead and make your money for putting on a race…but don’t slap me in the face at the end and tell me I have to pay 5 bucks for each kid to eat some oranges and a fruit cup. Give me a break. I said so too. I said a bit too loudly, “It’s oranges…not gasoline, fer chrissakes.” The poor volunteer relented and gave me two plates, even though I hadn’t asked her to break the rule…I was just whining…but then she came over to where I was sitting and took my race number without saying a word. Hmmmmm.

  • Comments: When I got done food was mostly gone, able to get Strawberry shortcake & pretzes ($5) of race fee? Gatorade was gone. Line at begining of race was very long too. I think it was the weather that just made this race really really bad.

  • Comments: No bike aid stations at all. Event started late due to race day packet pickup, though the scheduled 9 AM start time was nice. Race might have been better if weather was nicer of course, but volunteers were great. Didn't stay for post-race bbq.

  • Comments: I love the setting of this race, the park is great and if the weather was nice, it would be one of my favorite race settings.
