  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Even though I did a half IM a little over a month ago, and I've been keeping up my biking (regularly 60 km with more quality), the bike was too hard for me to do well. I'm an athena, the hills take a bigger toll on me, and I was un prepared for the relentless up and down. I don't have anywhere to practice those kind of hills.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: As I crossed the finish line John Salt was standing right there and looked me square in the eye, gave me a nice firm handshake and said "Good Race". That was pretty cool. Very personal and makes me want to race MSC again.

  • Comments: Good race, well organized. Flat run compensated for challenging ride. 2 loops on run was good to see other competitors and family

  • Comments: I don't know how to answer the "overall course based on my ability" question. I finished in spite of the cramps so I guess it wasn't too hard but I felt like I worked for every freaking mile. There comes a point when people pass you and you can do nothing but watch because you can't give it any more. I accomplished my goal - really happy to have done this race and looking forward to doing a better job next year - the year I conquer the evil tris of my past! My 40th birthday present to myself :)

  • Comments: Another race under pouring rain, this one compounded by my lack of endurance and steep hills on the bike course. But I'm happy with my 5th overall, 2nd AG finish, as well as 2nd overall, 1st AG bike split. I finally met Robin R, my main rival for the Du series title. She's a really fast runner, can run stand alone 5k in 21', and has only been cycling for a yr. She's leading in the series standing, but I got some valuable points today and am a solid 2nd, with 2 more races to go. When I was crossing the finish line, I was a little surprised to see Mike C, race photographer, had already put the camera down. When I checked on the race pics, I noticed he's decided to take pictures where people were negotiating the large puddles 40ft from the finish line, instead of the usual finish line pic. He's a GENIUS. Many people take pictures, a few are real photographers, and Mike is the best sports photographer out there, capturing moments worth many more than a thousand words. PS - Overall

  • Comments: I missed my race goal by 9 minutes because of choppy waters and my lack of run kick. Nonetheless, I once again enjoyed racing in Cobourg and will do so again next year. It was a well organized race.
