  • Comments: This was a top shelf event. It was extremely well-organized, there were almost too many volunteers, and the venue at George Wyth State Park is terrific. The goody bag was also great, with a high-quality long sleeve tech shirt, nice mesh race bag, flashlight, insect repellent, coupons and other goodies. They thought of everything. My only knock on the race was the post-race food, which consisted of a dry and tasteless turkey sub and some choices of fruit or granola bars. With the high standard they had set with nearly everything else, I expected more. As far as my own performance, as much as this race was ripe for me to set a PR, I didn't deserve it. This has admittedly been a season in which I have pulled back on my training, and it showed in my results. This year, I'm fine with that. Next year, I hope to do better.

  • Comments: ok from the beginning. HIGHLY organized pre raceday activities (expo, packet pick up, registration). pretty nice set up for it all as well. race day - again excellent organization and information readily available. race itself - course was marked on the swim the entire way with the bouy line going thru noodles, easy to keep track of. bike was marked every 5K and run was every mile. volunteers - i think the total number of athletes was around 350is. it was announced that there were 252 volunteers AT THE RACE ITSELF. i believe it awards - cash prizes for top three elite and top age groupers. finisher medals for all and raffles going on as well (i won a hat) schwag - BEST shwag bag i have gotten at a race other than donkey man yet! keep an eye on this race, i bet within five years it will explode and become a major event.

  • Comments: 10 minute improvement over last years time! Woot! It helps when you don't suck at swimming, crash your bike, or have a foot injury. Awesome organization. Great race. An event like this should attract many more people than it does. Hopefully it keeps growing. It looks like they're adding a sprint distance next year too so maybe that will help. I'll be back. 2 weeks is enough to recover from IMMOO, right?

  • Comments: For the first year this was a very good race. The organization was impressive and all the volunteers were great. I didn't realize I got 3rd in my age group until later that afternoon. I should have stuck around but I think I was in hurry to get cleaned up. Man, my first hardware race and I wasn't there to enjoy it. Oh well, there's gonna be plenty more opportunities next year :)

  • Comments: This was my 1st Olympic Tri and I definately made my goals. I was hoping for a sub 3 hour performance, with an outside shot at 2:45. From my first ever tri, a sprint, I shaved 1:20min/mile off my run pace, added 2mph on the bike and swam significantly faster. Now I have something to shoot for next year. Maybe 2:30 will be my goal next year.

  • Comments: Overall this may have been the most well organized and staffed race of the 8 that I've done. Was at the very least the equal of Carmel, IN. They had a ton of volunteers who were all very friendly and cheered for everyone. Some of the girls on the run course had been clapping so much that their hands actually turned red. They were very well organized and had some great swag. I spoke the race director after the race and congratulated her on how well the event was put together, and how fantastic their venue was, especially considering that this was their first year. They even had funny stuff at the end like the UNI cheerleaders cheering for people as I crossed the finish line. Luckily they weren't there when I came across or I would have had to ask them to do a cheer for my Saluki's. This is definitely a race I would recommend to anyone looking for a late season Olympic distance. This was also a fantastic race for me for a few reasons. 1)I decided to do the race yesterday, so
