  • Comments: The race itself has been going strong for 11 years. I hesitated signing up for it this last year after being a wetsuit peeler and seeing all the cold suffering people getting their suits peeled off. In the end I took the chance of good temps and weather and signed up for it. It is a local race for me so my family and friends were able to come out and cheer me on. I think the new swim start is a good thing even though that mass start is what some like. I imagine everyone had better swim times because they were able to swim rather than battle to stay above water. I can't say I will do this race again though. I would like to do another one but think it would be fun to do one at a different venue and make it somewhat a vacation if possible

  • Comments: The volunteers and spectators made this race AMAZING. It's a beautiful venue. Even with the cold water, I would do this race again. I loved the challenge of the bike course and the hills on the run were enough to keep it honest.

  • Comments: This is a great race. The town and the volunteers really make this race special. Beautiful place, cold water, big hills! Even though I didn't do as well as expected I loved it.

  • Comments: Obviously I didn't have the race I wanted due to the knee issue. However, in retrospect, I got to enjoy this one as much or more than any other since I was able to take the time to visit with family and friends during the run. Seeing my kids and grandkids and getting big smiles and hugs from my grandkids was absolutely priceless. I'm still reliving those moments more than a week later and getting misty eyed just thinking about them. So, even though I finished roughly 2 1/2 hours later than I'd planned, it was still an awesome day and I have no complaints. I know I'm biased but IMCDA is just a fantastic race. The town embraces the event wholeheartedly and the atmosphere is electric. Great volunteers too, without whom we could never race. I love this race and will continue to volunteer in the med tent over the next 5 years. I swore off doing another IM race after this one and still am pretty convinced this was my last one. That may change in the next year or two, especially if my

  • Comments: I love this race and will be back for year 3. I am not happy with the new bike course but not much i can do about it. The support is awesome and the city is great. Just a fun place to race. Plenty of things for kids and adults to do. Lots of things to do in the days before the race and the days after. See ya next year!!!

  • Comments: With having now a little more experience on the bike it didn't take me 4 years to want to do another ironman. Money and marriage will keep it a few years away. CDA has great peeps, food, atmosphere. Loved the house I stayed in and enjoyed staying with other athletes as well.

  • Comments: I love this course and venue! The people of Coeur D'Alene are beyond friendly and supportive and the setting is gorgeous. The swim here is no joke. The cold water temperatures combined with the aggressive nature of this particular mass start makes for a brutal swim. The bike course is not technical but it is challenging with some serious climbs...6% Mica Grade? Twice?! Feeling like a Rock Star pedaling through the crowded streets of CDA makes up for the burning quads on the climbs. The run course is just beautiful and a lot of fun. People all along the way were cheering...even late into the night. Finally, the final few blocks of Sherman Avenue are unbelievable! I smiled the whole way. Hearing Mike Reilly say, "Paige Mark of Marietta Georgia, You are an IronMan!" was just icing on the cake. It made all of those o'dark thirty training wake-ups worth it. I set a goal, worked really hard to prepare, and made it happen. That's what it's all about. I'm in awe of the other athletes

  • Comments: My first Ironman was everything I dreamed it would be. I've seen a bunch of photos people took and can't believe how much I was smiling all day. What an experience. I loved doing IMCDA as my first. Lived in the pacific NW for 14 years and really love it here. CDA is one of my favorite places on the planet. There's not a better place than the inland NW from June to mid September. Great venue, great support, great race. Couldn't be more pleased.

  • Comments: The townies and volunteers make this race. I have been to many cycling events and one HIM and none stacked up to the energy and excitment surrounding this one. A great experience and an awesome feeling of accomplishment although I think I will stick to 70.3's from here forward just do to training volume and abuse on the body

  • Comments: This was my first IM, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I really, really enjoyed it. I would do CdA again in a heartbeat. I didn't sign up for next year because I really need a later season IM with how busy I am at work in the spring, but I will definitely be back in a few years.

  • Comments: I seriously want to live in Coeur d'Alene, it is such a beautiful and fun town!! The atmosphere was amazing. Also, this was my first WTC race, and I have to say that they put on a top notch event. I know that if I put in the time and effort I could improve at this distance, and that possibility is tempting. However, IM is an all-consuming endeavor, and there are other things I want to focus on for the time being. If I ever do another IM, it will probably be at least a few years from now, but in the meantime I want to get faster at shorter distance tris, and I would like to do more hiking, backpacking, and trail running. I might be talked into doing a 50k later this year - who knows!!

  • Comments: CDA is a great place to race. Like the venue and all the people and volunteers. Loved the gear bag this year. Nice. Looking forward to next year. It's always interesting and fun. And a bonus is that my 11 year old daughter was totally interested this year and wants to train for a sprint either this fall or next spring. Yahoo!!!

  • Comments: I cannot say enough about this race. The volunteers are the best and make this race a great venue. I hope to get back to CDA again for another go at it and hopefully a PR. Beautiful scenery too. Be prepared for a COLD swim and possibly choppy water too. Bike course probably changing for 2012.

  • Comments: The day went suprisingly smooth for me. I never felt overwhelmed, over-tired, that I wouldn't finish, never had any stomach issues, and really had a great time. It's true, the training is the hardest part, and race day is a piece of cake. Well, maybe not that easy, but it didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected. I may be revising my "First and Last Ironman" statement. For now, I'm going to enjoy catching up on my eating and sleeping! Thanks to all my supporters - Kevin, Robin, Brenda, Rachel, Cadence, Hunter, Andrew, Sonja, Jamie, Tori and Jaden! It meant so much to have all my loved ones there to witness this! Our team had lots of other supporters out there as well, including my coach, Kristen Codish of Triple Threat Tough. Now, to figure out what's next on the bucket list...

  • Comments: I was super impressed from start to finish. This town really shows up to support the racers, the volunteers were amazing, and the big time feel that WTC brings to a race was something I had never experienced. Love them or hate them, they do put on a first-rate event.

  • Comments: I love IM CdA. Love the town. Love the volunteers. Love the vibe. Love the course (unfortunately, looks like they've ruined the best part of it for next year - the bike course). I had a sub-12 goal for this race. I missed it by 15 mins, but I still cut 5 mins off of last year's time, even with a ridiculously slow swim and T1, so no complaints, especially considering my lack of winter swim training. As with most things, you get out what you put in, and there's no escaping that. Glad that I think I've figured out what keeps killing my IM runs (shoes a little too tight once the swelling kicks in), so I'm looking forward to hopefully being able to race to my potential at IMAZ in November with a strong finish on the run. I plan to spend the summer putting in some serious volume on my swim to get it back to where it needs to be, and staying consistent with my bike/run training. Given that I pulled off a sub 12 at IMAZ last year, racing in crappy weather, with a full blown sinus infection,
