  • Comments: All in all it was an unbelievable experience, and such a great end to a very successful triathlon season. I feel blessed to be able to accomplish this goal and look forward to a little time off before training for Ironman Louisville starts early next year

  • Comments: This is the 2nd HFP race that I've done. They seem to be well run events. This race did get off to a bit of a late start, but only by about 10 or 15 minutes, so it really wasn't much of an issue. I would definitely do the race, but hopefully with cooler weather!

  • Comments: So I've thought about this for a couple days now. Initially I was pissed about my time and that was that. I was simply pissed. I thought I should have went faster and I felt that I let myself down. Then I actually evaluated what I had done. Basically 14 months ago I could not run 1 mile without stopping, I could not bike 10 miles without having to take a break, I swam 200 yards and thought I was gong to die. I had become an absolutely out of shape, lazy, unhealthy version of me. Since that actual first day of training I have lost 20 lbs, completed in a few sprints, 1 organized bike ride, an OLY and one HIM, had knee surgery (again) and learned a ton about what kind of person I am. After thinking about all that stuff I'm not so pissed about my time... you have to start somewhere.

  • Comments: The race for the half started too late, I did start my wave until 9:35 which put me on my half marathon between 1-3 the hottest part of the day. I did what I wanted to do, I had a good swim, stayed relaxed and confortable on the bike, and ran about the entire run. I think when I finish the Ironman I will no longer do races of this distance, I really enjoy the sprints and these distance I just don't have much fun.

  • Comments: I would have given this race a better rating, but considering it was already a 9:00 start, the late start was bad. Starting races at almost 9:30 is not my type of race. Besides that, they did a nice job. The volunteers were good, well marked course, and nice shirt.
