  • Comments: Great local race, only issue (and it's a big one) is the open bike course. Not all that happy with that... 3:39 is a 7 minute PR here, and that was mostly on the run. Thanks to Shane MacLeod of Scotia Multisport for getting me in shape for it

  • Comments: I always love Santa Barbara and this race event is definitely a return to race. The swim is perfect, nice and cool with very little current or waves. The bike course is very scenic yet challenging. The run, who would not love to run right along the scenic shoreline of Santa Barbara. Well organized with both volunteer and police presence. Lots of other distance options as well. Loved it, will gladly return next year.

  • Comments: Great race coordination, everything was on time! Plenty of volunteers (said thanks to many of them as I went by). The gatorade was actually mixed well, I don't drink it but it was diluted enought so as not to be too surgary. Post race not much really going on, but you are in Santa Barbara figure something out! Great Race Highly recommend to anyone thinking about it.

  • Comments: This was my longest distance to date and I was really nervous going in to it because I had a cold/small fever the couple of days before. Did nothing but rest and eat the two days preceding and I felt strong all the way to the end! Very relieved! And happy with my time, 7 minutes over my goal, but as I said it was my first longer course. I'll worry about speed next year.

  • Comments: I was very happy to finish 3 min faster than my 4 hr goal! If I had raced Clydesdale (Im 215 lbs), I would have finished 4th in the group! Thats great for my ego. This was a lot of fun for my first Triathlon. I learned a ton. I loved the atmosphere, seeing the other racers and how they interact with each other, I constantly thought, "I wanna be like them!" I cant wait to do this race again with more experience, a little less lbs, a newer bike (suggestions would be great) and a more competitive mindset.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Now I just have motivation to come back next year and do it properly. Between 2007 and 2008 I had a great improvement here (15 mintues), then 09 and 10 couldn't race this (or much else, for that matter). So finishing it, and being back out on that course, is the victory I am taking away, when I very well could have (and almost did) simply walk away and quit.

  • Comments: This was a "good" race. I made good decisions and did the best I could with the hand I was dealt this day. I felt I could have done better. But you know what, there will be other races. When that perfect race comes...it will be so sweet. Next up is Malibu Tri and then off to Phoenix for Soma triathlon. That will be it for tri's till next year. After Soma, it will be time to learn how to run and focus on that in the off season. As always, I have to thank everyone that makes this possible. My sponsors, 101 Pipe & Casing, Kurt Orban Partners, K Swiss, and Wins Wheels. Also my training groups, Conejo Valley Multisport Masters, Fortius Racing, Conejo Valley Tri Club and LA Tri Club. My coach Brian Stover who earned his paycheck this week with some invaluable advice. Ashley as always, who is the best girlfriend in the world.

  • Comments: I performed better than I expected. The training has really paid off. I must say that this is the first race I have had that seemed easy. I had a plan and executed it. It was just what my body had. Nothing hurt and I wasn't fighting any odd pain. I was just pushing as hard as I could go. For the first time, train hard and race easy made complete sense to me. My goal was 3:30:xx and I crushed that. My goal was a top 20 and I crushed that as well. I'm excited for racing in the future and just want to get faster. Met Emilio Desoto in the parking lot of our hotel after the race. Super nice guy. I'm glad I had the chance to talk with him and get to know him a little.

  • Comments: I really loved this race, it's a really pretty course, challenging but not too hard. Except for not starting on time it was well organized and the volunteers were all great. I was really happy with my performance on each of the separate parts, they were either right where I wanted to be or faster and I felt really good the whole time, even during the run which never happens. The race went by faster than an olympic to me and I'm happy that I think I'm finally starting to figure out my race day nutrition a little better. Overall a very successful race day.

  • Comments: Lots of great stuff about this race. It's a small local race, but very popular and lots of people racing. So lots of traffic, drafting, etc. Road surfaces are also frankly dangerous in a couple spots. But it's the most beautiful So Cal course I think. Compared to last year's race: Swim 2007 - 26:39 2008 - 24:38 Bike 2007 - 1:56:06 2008 - 1:49:01 Run 2007 - 1:47:10 2008 - 1:31:50 I am very pleased, my run in my last two tris, an Oly and this, were very strong, consistent, and negative split. Still my weakest event, but getting better!

  • Comments: This was a great, local, small race. It's got a small town feel to it, but with some very fast competitors. Now that I know the course, I'd like to come back and kick it's ass. My goal was 4:00. I went 4:15. I can't really complain about that. Typi9cal placings for me. FOP in the swim, MOP bike, and BOP run. Train those limiters.

  • Comments: Volunteers, police, and crowd along course were awesome! Cheering, helping, awesome! Even way out at the bike turnaround, people were cheering for out. A great race with fantastic scenery, especially on the bike!
