  • Comments: Very well organized event for how many people were competing. Amenities were terrific. Plenty of aid stations and volunteers. My only complaint was the beer selection at the post race party. After running a 1/2 marathon a Michelob Ultra is pretty much the last beer I would want

  • Comments: My wife and I were volunteers as RaceGaurds, so we stopped a lot in support of fellow runners.

  • Comments: Overall, I am happy with this race. I would have been over the moon if I didn't have the injury pop up, and cross the finish line closer to 2 hours or even under 2 hours. But, this thing has usually reared it's ugly head throughout the race, and it didn't. I SERIOUSLY thought I was going to have to walk to the finish line, and with all the spectators watching and seeing me in so much pain, was a little embarrassing. But the runners who kept encouraging me to get to the finish, was really nice. I have NO idea what this will hold now for the marathon...I REALLY need to continue with the PT and the upper body for the next 2 months to stay strong. I've definately made a ton of progress, but it's still not 100% yet...and it may never be. I just have to make sure I do everything I can to keep getting stronger.

  • Comments: OK, I am not a big fan of huge corporate races, but I have to say this is one of the best 13.1's I have ever done. The organization was phenomenal, the volunteers kicked butt, and the music acts were great. After doing this race today I'm definitely planning on registering for the RnR Vegas 1/2. This is a good race- if you want to race in downtown Chicago this is one to do.

  • Comments: If over 2/3 of your participants are women, you should offer a women fitted t-shirt. I am not tiny and the XS is quite roomy on me. Either that or offer 20 bucks off if you forego the t-shirt. There's too much crap in our landfills to be giving crappy swag away...it just gets thrown away if it is ugly or doesn't fit. This is a decent race to do city sightseeing and the only 1/2 marathon in Chicago that is not on the lake front in its entirety...but I don't know if I would do it again. I'd rather spend the money on triathlons...

  • Comments: Was not a fan of the post-race concert choice. The medal was very nice, though. Was also not a fan of the McCormick Center packet pickup. When when these companies realize 80% of runners in these races are from the northside and they should do packet pickup up there. Really grumpy about the big gap in fluid statiosn, obviously. Gorgeous day, though, and fun race. Can't forget to end on positive. Wave start was perfectly designed. I was able to run my pace the whole way without fighting crowds. May do again next year, depending on training schedule.

  • Comments: I felt great until just after the nine mile mark. I was on pace to finish under 2. Then mother nature called and I had to use the restroom. No porta potty until at the 11 mile mark. This slowed me down. Quite a wait in line and then I felt great. Until mile 12- had to go again- I've never had this happen before. Couldn't get my legs moving after the second stop. Very bummed about not being able to come in under 2 hours. I guess I'll have to run another one. Still happy with the race since it was my first.

  • Comments: I thought the race itself was great. It was well run, organized, had no issues getting liquids, plenty of medical staff, etc... The only reason I gave it a 3 is the packet pickup sucks. It is at McCormick Place and you have to pick up your own packet. It cost $19 to park and there is no public transportation to McCormick Place. I actually sent the race director an email, giving him some suggestions on how to improve packet pickup. Overall I had a good time. It was a fast course, all of my friends got PR's.

  • Comments: This is going to be a pitty party for me right now, but I couldn't believe ALL of the spectators that were out there cheering on their loved ones, their friends, co-workers, whatever, and not ONE of those people were there for me. I think about this A LOT in my races, and as a female, and a sensitve one at that, I know it probably bothers me more than it should, but it hurts. I know if Mom was here, she would be at every race, and maybe that's why it hurts. But I saw A LOT of Dads out there too...and where was mine? No idea.... Don't mean to sound like a selfish, self absorbed brat or anything, I just wish I wasn't always alone.

  • Comments: I've done another Country Music/Rock and Roll half marathon and they are very well done. I would definitely recommend them for veterans and first timers alike. I thought as an inaugural race this went very well. I would suggest they loosen up their policy about making everyone pick up their own packet though, especially if they are going to continue to hold the expo in the middle of the city with $20 parking to get to it. For people coming from the suburbs, it was a 3-4 hour trip on top of race day.
