  • Comments: What a great experience it was to race again with so many terrific athletes, and as a TEAM for Club Nationals. I had a personal goal, but was so excited to be contributing to the team effort too! Racing with 40 of your friends just can NOT be beat! I met my goal of qualifying for the ITU World Long Course Championships next November in Las Vegas, which was a truly amazing feeling! When Steve congratulated me and told me my rank, I squealled like a little girl! I really didn't know how I'd fair in the sea of women who'd already been on TEAM USA, and done multipule IM's who were my neighbors in transition. I'm glad I worked the plan and it was good enough to get me to qualify! It was a great way to end a really fun week in the RV. Most excellent, actually!

  • Comments: For me, to race at the national championship was awesome. I improved my splits on the two legs we did and feel really good about it. I may sign up for the gator again just to stay motivated!

  • Comments: I usually get a race report up quickly but this race has been very tough for me. It all started over one year ago---I heard that USAT was going to hold the Halfmax Champ in Myrtle Beach. For the last couple summers we've gone to Myrtle for vacation so I thought it would be very cool to race there. USAT also announced that it would be the qualifying race for the world championship for 2011 to be held in Henderson, NY (Silverman course). This became a two year plan for me---train for Halfmax in Myrtle to qualify for world's so that I could go to world's in 2011. That was the plan. Well training for this race was difficult for me this year---my motivation wasn't as sharp as I thought it would be...after training for B2B full last year and then focusing so much on this race I felt like I was missing out on family stuff so I skipped training---this was the RIGHT choice but still made me feel bad because that wasn't the plan... I began to question my desire to race world's. Then I found

  • Comments: I had a great long weekend in Myrtle Beach. Mario (zeetsvar) provided wonderful race support! Thank you!! :-) It was so fun to catch up with Shaun and Kelly and to also see my Cincy friend (Amanda) race. I was impressed with the level of competition at nationals. USA has some fast triathletes. The USA World team will officially be announced in about 2 weeks.

  • Comments: Garmin Data Bike leg: http://connect.garm...om/activity/51595894 Run leg: http://connect.garm...om/activity/51595901 Impressions The race directors did a good job managing the swim issue. That’s the only good thing I have to say about the race organization. Overall, I felt the race was not very well organized and not worth the money I spent in race fees and travel and taking time off work. I will not do another Ultramax Tri race. Some of that is sour grapes, I know. But the race just wasn’t that well organized. There was not much crowd enthusiasm. The aid stations on the run were lacking food. They were supposed to have orange slices, but did not. The race schwagg was nothing to write home about. And the post race food was lacking. This race was hyped up as a “National Championship event”. I expected this race to be spectacular, and it was a disappointment.

  • Comments: Was actually a really well run race especially considering the last minute decision to have to cancel the swim. Ecoli levels were measured and the gov't officials said the levels were dangerous due to the storms. Very quick thinking on the part of the race crew to get everything to come off as well as it did for almost 1200 elite athletes and still make for a fair race for all. Would do this again if qualified.

  • Comments: The Halfmax folks did an OK job -- there ere some glitches. I don't blame the RD for canceling the swim. Indeed, I applaud him for making a decision that he felt was right and in the best interest of the athletes, despite knowing that it would be unpopular. Still, I am massively disappointed. I think there's an argument to be made that I would have gone something like 4:35 or even quicker for this race, but I'll never know. Oh, but I did qualify for Worlds!
