  • Comments: Very pleased with this race. Beat 2013 time by 20min; met or beat goals for all 3 stages (swim goal: 1:45/100, actual: 1:37, bike goal: 21mph, actual: 21mph, run goal: 7:30min/mile, actual: 7:29/mile). Very encouraged that my work on bike and run was shown in my results. Also, the fact that I decreased my pre-race nutrition to my normal amounts likely helped ward off the fullness and cramping from 2013.

  • Comments: This is a really good race put on at a really good venue. Parking is a ways away but they do provide a shuttle, which I've never taken advantage of. It's well put on, well organized and has a more professional feel to it than your normal local sprint triathlon.

  • Comments: Overall, satisfied with my placing on 1st Oly. I met (barely) my biking goal. Well below on swim/run. It's possible my bike might have been a little too fast, but it didn't feel like it at the time. Can't complain about 12/45 in AG and 125/438 overall for 1st Oly. Need better pacing and fitness.

  • Comments: Overall this was a great race! Just a few complaints: 1. After the transition area closed, some racers had a good hour or MORE to wait around for their wave. The only water available was for sale. That's insane. 2. Reverse the swim course! It was really hard sighting because of the sun glare on the lake. Several times I was swimming and had NO idea where I was going. And while we're at it, increase the number of buoys and the number of life guards. 3. The vast majority of the volunteers were amazing!!! There were a few, however, that sat on their corners on their phones, not even looking up as I passed.

  • Comments: I'm not use to a whole lot of post race activity but this was nice with the vendors and food and watching everyone finish. As usual volunteers did a great job and thank you to all the policeman (and women) who close off the intersections for us. Great race and would love to do it again.

  • Comments: This is a very well run race - volunteers are plentiful and enthusiastic. The course is pleasantly full of competitors - you aren't ever alone but I never felt hemmed in. The only caveat I would have is that there aren't enough life guards on the swim - Many fewer than Buffalo and less than Minneman with 1/5 the people. There is no way that they could effectively watch that many people for someone in trouble.

  • Comments: Overall this was a good experience. My only frustration was pre-race communication. It seems that the water temp situation is the number one question for the majority of races, so more info would have been nice. For the second race this season I had to learn the water temp from a co-racer, which isn't right. In general I felt left in the dark. I would have known even less had I not "liked" the race on Facebook, which is too bad for those not on Facebook...

  • Comments: After going to Lifetime, where I ran into a lifeguard every 50 yards, here they were very sparse out on the course. I wasn't likely to be a person who was going to need one, but that could have been bad. Also, the water stations on the run seemed somewhat sparsely populated. Aside from the waves starting 5-6 minutes late (which really there is no excuse for), I thought it was pretty well organized. We'll definitely be back next year, hopefully with my wife tri'ing too!

  • Comments: I am thrilled that I made my goal of under 3 hours. I really thought this race was well run and you would not have guessed that it was a first time race. The volunteers were great and the RD did a great job of working with law enforcement to direct traffic at intersections on the course. I am glad that this race is very close to home for me because I will definitely look at doing it again.

  • Comments: Good event that I would do again. Very organized with lots of positive volunteers and local support. Even the local High School Cheerleaders were spread out along the last segment of the bike. I thought the RD did an amazing job for a first event. The three things that would be nice to have differently, is the parking situation (lugging all my stuff with bike a half mile back to the car after the race was less than fun). The waiver at check-in seems like it could have been done differently more clip boards, online prior to the race...It also would be nice to have a swim warm up area still open at the start of the race. Having said that, this is a great race and one to put on your list.

  • Comments: It's a pretty good race. I certainly had fun! Couple things they could improve next year: 1) Don't put elite's as being eligible for AG awards also (maybe it's normal and I just never realized it?) 2) Reverse the swim course to be clockwise so the sun is not blinding you for the stretch into the finish. Got to meet Matt (@Prie065) [who, by the way won a pair of shoes at the swag givaway!] and Mike (@mikfinne) and chat for a while. BT is such a great resource and it's always so fun to actually meet people from here out at the events!
