  • Comments: The volunteers and orginization of this race was phenominal. I would definitely do this one again, Vigo knows how to organize and run races. I am definitely looking forward to ChessyMan and while it will be much smaller, I know it will be as well organized and run as this. Thanx Vigo!!!!

  • Comments: To this point this was the greatest day in my athletic career. the most challenging and the most satisfying. From day one of decicing I was going to attempt this race I never once lost sight of June 11, 2006 and the goals I set for myself. Of course I had to re-evaluate them, but the goals I came up with, I accomplished. FINISH: check, UNDER 6 HOURS: check, 5 HOURS 30 MINUTES: check. I don't think I could have asked for a better day. I trained the absolute best I cold every time I went out that door. I did as much as I could squeeze in between work and coaching and made the most out of every moment, even when I had a bad day or felt like crap. I thought about this day every day for the last 6 months, sacrificed social life, make key life changes and now am a completly different person and I couldn't be more pleased. However, while I am happy with how things went, I am in no way satisfied. I believe that there is so much more I can accomplish and go much faster. I am also vey confident that

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race a lot...part of it was it being my first time doing Eagleman and first time at 70.3, but moreso the great company...time for the sappy stuff. It was great to play leapfrog w/ brad and watch him kill another run and take back the belt. It was great that craig unleashed darkness and crushed his bike goal. It was great that Heidi watching heidi beat her last year's time and show us once again that she can play with the boys. It was great hearing Nate's tales of using pretty much ever toilet on the course, taking 16+min in transition (i wonder if there was a massage in there) but loving every second of it. It was great seeing kristin smile and do her "I want to bang Chris Legh" motion as she finished up...and it was great having laura surprise me, and it was great having laura, amy and stacy cheer us all on. All returning competitors in our group improved on their time in windy and choppy conditions. oh ya, apparently i left my hat, race belt, number and finishing

  • Comments: This was an extremely humbling experience. The camaraderie amongst the triathletes was great. I do feel that with some work and some weight loss, I could have a better day. However, out of the 5 people who I know who entered the race, 2 DNS and the other 3 quit after the bike (one was actually knocked off his bike by another competitor), so I'm glad that I finished. Lastly, some of the members of this site gave me indirect inspiration, which was helpful esp during the run. Thanks for reading this far, and thanks to my son Joe who made me laugh so much during those last 2 miles.

  • Comments: Crossed the finish line and to be honest was really pleased and happy to finsh. I wanted to do a sub 6 time going in but finiahing 6:15 is pretty good consideing the conditions, my HIM and I really did a poor job of trainig for this distance. What this race did do is prepare for how I need to train to finish 5:30 or less which is a time feel confidently chasing. Oh and I really need to start using this thing they call sunscreen. Anybody hear of it? Supposedly it helps to keep you from getting sunburned. Could of used some cause I got BURNED.

  • Comments: overall this is a fast course. The organization is a little mixed up at times. the race started late due to bad traffic. The number of volunteers and fan support is limited. But the race is great for the fact that us average people get to race with world champions.:)

  • Comments: I'm glad I did this race. It was organized, relatively close to home, there were a lot of BTers at the race and the course while boring was the right level for me. As this race was offering prize money and a lot of slots for Kona and the 70.3 championship, the level of competition was a lot higher than I've encountered. There was a lot of expensive tri gear and a lot of very fit people. I use to play golf quite a bit but gave it up for the most part because I was frustrated by how long it took to play and the people I encountered on the course. I also would come home and say "Well that wasn't much fun." Well I made sure I was having fun and I enjoyed this whole experience, even when I was getting passed like I was going backwards on the bike. I think I can identify a disc wheel from just the sound. After you've seen and heard about a 100 of those go by it's easy to identify the brand. If 18 months ago you would have told me that I would be in the top half of my age group for

  • Comments: Extremely well organized and run event. I would definitely consider doing this race again (if I could stomach the Choptank!). This race, and doing the 70.3 distance was a great challenge.

  • Comments: Great race! Had a really good time. The Aqua Bike was a new category added this year and gave me an opportunity to experience two thirds of the HIM race, since the main race had sold out months earlier. Would recommend it to anyone thinking about trying. Great experience!

  • Comments: I know I had a 15:00 IronMan in me yesterday. My goal for Madison is still sub-13. To do this I need to keep swimming and stay ready. Calm fresh water will be really good for me. Steady on the bike...I can't be affraid to push it a little harder. Find a way to overcome the stiffness in my hips post-bike. Drive myself harder mentally.

  • Comments: So many post scripts to this race, I'm not sure I will get to all of them today. Peformance: The biggest post script was that I think my training plan came very close to optimizing my abilities. Leading up to the race I could see brief glimpses of a higher level of performance - PR's for 0.5mi run intervals, 1000yd swim TT. The 20 weeks of preparation that I invested in this race paid big dividends. My goal time was 5:15, which at times I thought was a bit ambitious, but I beat it by 10 minutes - that feels awesome. Pain: I am sore - everywhere. My legs are trashed, by back is stiff, I have blisters on my feet , and I'm sunburnt (couldn't scrub my race numbers off). Competition: Before the race I looked around TA and saw the $$$ bikes (was I the only one to not have Zipps, a disc rear, or Hed 3's?) and the $$$ wetsuits, and I couldn't help but wonder, "Am I out of my league, here?" I realize that triathlon is about personal goals, but part of racing for me is being happy

  • Comments: i have mixed emotions about this race. on one hand it is a big time event with top pros and a cool venue. on the other hand, it is not a very exciting course and although it's fast, it's also hard. the volunteers are great, but there is very little fan support. post race food is good though.

  • Comments: Had a goal of sub (most specifically 5:56:30) after my poor 6:30 last year in the heat. The swim pissed me off so I took it out on the bike and ended up showing myself that I can actually bike (at least on the flats). NOt only was my time much faster but I felt great after the race (I bleieve nimble like a balerina was thrown in conversation), and feel good the day after.
