  • Comments: Due to a series of thunderstorms the night before, the bike portion of the race ended up being canceled. They didn't make the call until about 6:30am. Packet pick-up was supposed to start at 5:30am and man were they behind. Many people left because they didn't want to do the run-swim-run. Turned out to be a pretty good race, despite all of the issues. The water was warm enough to not have to fuss with the wetsuit after the first run. They didn't give splits for this race, so I'm not sure how each event really went.

  • Comments: Due a late storm that came through the area the night before, trees and debris were all over the bike course, so the race director had to take out the bike and we did a 3.1 mile run - 1/2 mile swim - 3.1 mile run. With my heel spur, I wasn't sure I'd be able to do a 10K, but I made it. Did the first run with my friend, Duane. He wasn't going to do the race at all once they nixed the bike leg, but he had never done an open water swim and wanted to mentally get over that hurdle, so I talked him into it.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Luckily, I wasn't too serious about the whole thing and looked at is at a long training session. There were several other athletes who were VERY serious -- beautiful, expensive bikes. Lots of grumbling from the serious racers at the finish which was deserved. This was the first year for this race, so hopefully they've learned some lessons. I would still probably do it again, since it's only 5 minutes from my house. I find that I much prefer the smaller races. Results: http://www.bluepointtiming.com/files/results/TRIFORCESAGEGRP.HTM
