  • Comments: Great race! 2nd place OA in my AG, 12/86 for women and 75/234 OA! The race organisation did address most of the things that were suggested from the inaugural race the year before from gear bag changes, race route changes, increasing bike drop time the night before and putting mats down in the gravel parking lot in T1 so we didn't have to run across rocks!!

  • Comments: Post race food was good, the race package was better than the Calgary 1/2 Organization and bus transport to get to T! was a bit disorganized. The return of the T1 bags was POOR put out of the back of a truck on the road with no one checking to see that the correct people ended up getting the correct bags. As others have said September in the Rockies one has to expect this type of weather, it could have been snowing or it could have been 30deg C

  • Comments: 1) "real" transition bags (like Ironman) are needed, and there needs to be at least two. 2) There needs to be mats in T1 3) Traffic control was excellent

  • Comments: Initially I thought Banff would be an amazing place to do a triathlon, what better backdrop than the Rocky Mountains. The thing is you're so damn cold and miserable that you don't even notice the beauty around you. I just wanted the stupid thing to be over with so that I could finally be warm. The course itself is not challenging but the cr@p you have to put up with during the race is. I heard from many many people that they would not be doing this race again because they just didn't "enjoy" it or have "fun". As well, I found it to be extremely disorganized, nobody seemed to know where body marking was, where to get your chip, and the bussing around was a bit annoying. Oh and the items were brought over from T1 to T2 sometime while we were biking and dumped in the street and on a meridian next to T2, so if you love your wetsuit/goggles/tri equipment don't use it in this race because when I was picking up my stuff there was a line up of people asking where their "GAP" transition bags were

  • Comments: The goodie back was hilarious. A GAP bag for the wetsuit/t1, a single powerbar, a (nice) shirt and a flyer for rafting. No maps or instructions for the pasta parties or any of the other stuff. The explanations of how the pre-race clothing/gear was going to be returned was completely ommitted and so some people thought it ALL had to come back in the gap bag while others had suitcases. It all worked out in the end but just a bit more communication could have saved a lot of stress and hassle.

  • Comments: GREAT race! Just a little late in the season for Alberta in the mountains. However, while it was cold and rainy this race day, on the same day in 2009 it was 30C and hot hot hot. It's just hit and miss and you have to go in with a good attitude!

  • Comments: First year of this race. Some minor logistical things to work out, but overall I was pleased with how the race was run and the course.
