  • Comments: Arrival too narrow, not enough indication of where to go just after the race, not enough refreshments at the end. Good scenic race, very fast, but fast doesn't mean easy... ;)

  • Comments: Organization was incredible. First class all the way It was a good first half marathon. I learned a ton of little tricks from the bro-in-law. He's da best. This race allowed me to know what it's like to run the 21k (13m) race. I learned a lot about my HR and pacing. Driving back to Montreal (6 hours) after a half was not a brilliant idea. My knees are killing me.

  • Comments: Loved this race. Stayed close to the finish so that was fun. Lots of people, well put together and a great course. Next year? Maybe.

  • Comments: I nailed my nutrition plan, there was no chance for me to bonk. I have no regrets for picking and running the Toronto half-mary but this race was too close to my last triathlon; getting sick shortly after my oly tri last month hindered my training. I would love to do this race again next year but since I am doing the Muskoka 70.3 next September, I will chose a half-mary that is 6 to 8 weeks after that event, possibly the Angus Glen half-marathon in November; this will allow enough time for me to properly recover from the HIM and train well for this race. The race organization was great; the cheerful crowds, volunteers and psyching team were fantastic. Even though this race was a "C" event, I am overall pleased with how I performed and did better than what I anticipated. I am beginning to love running!

  • Comments: Some of the water stations were disorganized and they were not up to speed on the water or gatorade. They were not poured and sometimes had to line up to get water or gatorade. One station I got undiluted gatorade powder poured in the cup as it was being passed to me. This also slowed me down a little, otherwise I could have been finished 20 seconds faster?

  • Comments: The race was pretty well organized except for the following two points. 1. For the long stretch on Rosedale Valley Rd and the Bayview extension there were no drinking stations. 2. The shuttle busses that were supposed to take racers back to the morning pickup point were not availble at the end of the half marathon due to the road closures. Since this was not communicated, lots of racers were not prepared with money for the subway. The long 5km walk back to the pickup point was NOT fun in the freezing cold weather.

  • Comments: Had a good time, was good to run with the family, even if I didn't run the race itself with them...

  • Comments: A fun course to do for the first time. It's pretty cool running down Yongue, but once we got off Yongue it was a little more boring. I decided Friday (on a whim) to do this race. I figured "what the hell", and had pretty much mentally convinced myself that I could do it. That helped. I've never really run longer than 10k before, so this was going to be a big experiment. I figured it would be cool if I didn't walk much, and in the end I didn't walk at all! I took Gatorade at every aid station, walking for about 10sec while drinking, then starting up again with an easy pace. Hills were no problem at all, and breathing was pretty relaxed (nose breathing) until about the last 2km. All in all, I was surprised at how easy it was for me to run that far, and as the race progressed and it became apparent that I could do this, the goals changed from 'finish' to 'don't walk' to '2:10 would be a major accomplishment' to 'can I break 2:05?' A fun experience.
