  • Comments: My first tri I was nervous all day on Friday. I was eager to get the race started. I packed and repacked my bag the night before. I took the afternoon off work on Friday and went to the event expo to pick up my packet. That was actually a lot of fun. I just felt good that I was one of the athletes there to pick up my packet. So, then I took my bike to the bike shop just to have them put some air into the tires. (I have had some tire issues). I ate a good protein meal for dinner and then tried to go to sleep. Alarm was set for 4 am, but I woke up at 3:30 and just could not sleep. So, I got up and took my dog for a long walk. It was a gorgeous sunny morning. The forecast called for record heat and I had a 10:30 am start, so I was wishing that I could do it right then and there at 5 a.m.. But, I just took my time, repacked my bag, had a leisurely breakfast and had a talk with my bike. I know…I sound a little crazy, but I was worried about getting a flat tire, so I asked it to please

  • Comments: I thought the race was very well organized, especially considering the hot weather and all the people involved. Despite this being my first time and being all worried about not knowing where to go...everyone was helpful and marked well. There were lots of people on the bike and run courses offering water and drinks and ice cubes...even a fabulous fire hose on the run. Also, mad props to Gear West for fixing my exploding flat tire and scrunched derailler in like 5 minutes for me before the race. The atmosphere was awesome and everyone was really friendly. At first I was a little nervous around all the hard core racers, but the girls in my age group were awesome and friendly and it really added to the experience.

  • Comments: Just plain too hot with the late start and time of year. Heat took fun out of the event.

  • Comments: As you can guess from my RR, I'm extremely pleased with my results today! My goal, before I got here and knew what the heat was going to be was 1:35. When I saw the forecast, I was sure I'd be doing good to get a 1:45, so to come in at 1:32:43 was a HUGE accomplishment for me. With better transitions and a faster run, I could have probabaly shaved another couple minutes off the my time. But I'm NOT complaining! Definately looking forward to coming back to this race next year! Was lots of fun to be in this large of a race, and to get to watch the pro's. Great time to spend with my friends. Course is a challenging one, but not intimidating. Well laid out, extremely well marked, with LOTS of volunteers there to assist. Body marking and Chip activation could have been a bit more organized, but wasn't too bad given the numbers they had to mark. The other issue that pulled the rating down was the entry fee. A very expensive race ($150.00) to run for a sprint distance or

  • Comments: While I am happy that I stuck with it and completed the race, I think I enjoyed Tri Buff more than this one. In terms of difficulty, both courses have their respective challenges. I just think that Tri Buff is more suitable for a newbie/non-commital triathlete like me. Lifetime was just a tad too commercialized and catered towards the pros. Will I do it again next year? Probably so, because it's close to home.
