  • Comments: Over all I was very happy being under 3 hours. My swim was great. Still need to work on transition. Bike was good for bike, but I think it hurt my run. Run was hard and I wanted to do better.First Oly is in the books. HIM next. Overall I thought it was a great distance to race. I would like to do more Olys.

  • Comments: The big summer goal is every leg of every tri is a PR over prior efforts. So far, so good. This is a great event and a beautiful course. The view earned by climbing Old Stage is always worth the effort.

  • Comments: So I improved in all components but one and that one should have been planned for better. This has been an "off" year for me, plagued with injury and a plethora of other limiting factors. Between the move here, altitude adjustments, change in training time/abilities (and some are a positive), pending deployment in a week, and overall stress levels...it has been a weird year. I will say this though - my muscles can handle the abuse better than last year, my cardio is miles ahead of last year, and experience is helping my decision making. What I need is to prepare better both mechanically and physically. I need more bricks and I need to make them longer. I think I'm at that next wall and I need to bust through it. I didn't reach my time goal this year and only barely beat last year's...it's time to up the effort in training. I also need to have my bike better suited to this area. Sure, I can climb all day on my MTB, but my TT is not setup properly for the terrain here. I will be

  • Comments: I had so much fun! The only thing that makes this "too hard" was the hill on Olde Stage, even though I did handle it, I was wheezing like I was going to pass out. I'd say that I was at 95% effort up most of it, it was really, really hard. But then the feeling of having conquered it was fantastic, and the fast race down the canyon was exhilarating! Plus the volunteers were so enthusiastic and cheering and there was plenty of water and gatorade and I can't really think of a better experience for my first olympic triathlon.

  • Comments: Good race. The olympic distance is a distance that is hard enough for me that I have to train properly but not too hard that it is frustrating or kills me afterwards.
