  • Comments: My day didn't go fully as planned, but I adapted as best I could and all things considered I'm really happy with the day. This has been an amazing experience! I couldn't have picked a better race for my first HIM!!! I would certainly recommend Timberman to anyone looking to do a HIM in the northeast.

  • Comments: The late race start was due to a car accident on the bike course and was not the fault of the race organizers at all. I look forward to doing this race again. Oh and one more thing, getting your finisher medal from Chrissie Wellington was cool.

  • Comments: It would have been nice to get a massage but who wants to wait 3 hrs? Us slow guys want massages too! The shuttle back to Gunstock had way too long of a wait...especially on tired legs. (Maybe make a seperate shuttle for athletes?) Still a very good race. Swim, bike, run courses were all good and the event was well run. The delay to start (due to a car accident) kinda sucked but that was out of the RD's control.

  • Comments: well I HAVE to back next year to redeem myself on this course! I had trained right, tapered right, done another HIM to know I could do the distance. Apparently I screwed up the days leading up to this. and then WAY underdid sodium and electrolytes - this I have to correct. I am also instituting a scale spot sodium check program for the iron distance race I am in the med tent for in 2 weeks and will sent the boston marathon protocols to Keith. I have had an awful 2 days - 6 pounds up post race from pre race weight, migraines (all clear signs of hyponatremia). Lost 2.5 pounds this first day home but still need to mobilize the rest of the fluid. My head is still hurting, and just feel blah but muscles are recovering. got a massage when I got home. I am pissed at myself because I thought I had worked out nutrition. but I did not. I am proud of myself for the mental effort and the HTFU and not DNFing but now have lots to prove to myself.

  • Comments: Basically a perfectly run race. Apparently the shuttle buses back to Gunstock after the race had long wait times. I could not find the massage area. I would prefer if the race was on Saturday. Outside of that not much could be improved upon. At this point I plan on coming back next year.

  • Comments: Timberman is a REALLY great race to do. I didn't worry once about things going wrong. Transportation was taken care of by the race and there was plenty of space wherever you went. I never once felt claustrophobic by the experience, not even at the swim start. That being said, I HIGHLY recommend this race as a first HIM experience. I also have to say that this race was an entrance for me into the Major Leagues of triathlon. Overall there was a higher calibur of racer. (and then there was me :) ) So you could just feel the experience in the air of people who have done this stuff seriously for a number of years. (and then there was me :) )

  • Comments: Going into Mooseman I did a 20 week HIM training plan. That worked out okay. This one I did an OLY to HIM bridge plan. That did NOT work out well. I've got a HIM to IM bridge plan in my calendar this time to get me to B2B. I believe the training over distance is exactly what I need as this is getting back to doing physical stuff after 10 years of couch potatoing. We'll see how that one goes.

  • Comments: In IM Cd'A I had stomach issues that screwed me up a lot. This time I brought my own gels and endurolytes. I only took water and gatorade on the course. It was much better but still not great. I am wondering if the endurolyte capsules might be part of the problem. In training I have always used the powder... I'll be working on nutrition for next year. I will be shooting for a sub 5 hour Eagleman... A nice place to race. Tons of local support. Particularlly on the run course!!! Wow! Now for the highlight of the weekend... When I came across the finish line I was directed to a woman who was putting on medals. I really didn't look up until I was going to say thank you. Holy shit it was Chrissie Wellington putting on MY medal!!!! I was so stunned I said "Holy Shit", "Oh my god" and because I couldn't put a coherent thought together I bowed down in a "Were not worthy" fashion. I wonder what she thought!!! Wow!!! All in all a good time. And I got to camp for the first time in my life!

  • Comments: The race was only not on time because of a car accident out on the bike course. Keith and the rest of the Endorfun crew did an amazing job, as usual. Although this will probably be my only half ironman, I will definitely be doing Mooseman Int'l and Timberman Sprint next year!!

  • Comments: Awsome race. I couldn't have picked a better one for my first half (except maybe an easier and cooler climate course). But the race is awsome and I'll do it again.

  • Comments: The only reason the race wasn't on time was because of the accident on the bike course; it wasn't their fault..Highly recommend this race to anyone..only thing is get there early and park your car in the Ellacoya park lot...not at Gunstock so you don't get stuck in the shuttle madness. I can also say the ride back to Ct was the SUCK...Many thanks to Erica for driving through all the rain and traffic while I endlessly chatted about mindless race drivel...I never pulled into my driveway until 10pm.

  • Comments: Awesome first HIM race. Little disappointed in the run, but I made it. Had no idea what to expect -- now know that I need to train harder for the run. Not sure how. Like the swim late winter early spring effort. Maybe masters this winter to build a base, then ride off it thru the summer. Zbig focus this year will need to be run -- keeping my bike right around 18.7 should be just fine.

  • Comments: Other than having to wait in line for litterally over 2 hours this was a fantastic race. I definitely want to race it again next year...healthy! I could have grabbed a spot for 70.3 worlds but already planned on doing Escape to Bermuda the week before. Can't wait to do this race again next year!

  • Comments: too many people afterwards with too long of a line for food. left innstead to go get food elsewhere as we didn't want to stand in line. also didn't like the fact that family members were being allowed into transition.
