  • Comments: Thought the race itself was ok from a racers standpoint, but will probably do the race again just because of the fact you do multiple laps. Was nice for the family to see you 4 times on the bike and twice on the run, compared to alot of the down and back courses. My 22 month old really enjoyed the race and the blow up slides and stuff at the end. Wasnt hungry after the race but the food looked good and thought that the meal was a lot better then the usual pizza. Liked the muscle milk at the end, drank 3 of them.

  • Comments: Love doing this race since it's the social event of the season. Got my head out of my fanny after starting the swim, and had a good race overall. New bike pr thanks to mother natures kind winds today. Run stunk, but it will come. Got a good enough ranking to race next year at Best of the US. Going to do a road trip with my teammate and worlds "sister" to IN next June. That should be FUN! :)

  • Comments: Outside of a chintzy goodie back an ugly Race Tee this race was pretty awesome. There was some serious competition that came out for this race and the course itself was laid out for you to go as hard as you could possible go without any external limiters like hills or cornering. Plus the raffle at the end of the race was pretty spectacular with some serious swag being handed out. I would recommend this venue (at Detroit's Belle Isle) to anyone. Just don't expect a Race Tee that you'd grab to wear around.

  • Comments: I <3 racing Motor City! I love knowing it will be the social event of the tri season. I love cheering and being cheered by teammates and friends out on the course. I love that it's a flat and fast. I love hanging out afterwards on the grass, getting caught up with folks. Most of Team Green shows up to race and I always see my Greyhound and BT buddies! It is SOOOO MUCH FUN to race with friends. Love Love Love! Last year I was 11th overall female in the sprint, and this year I was 11th overall female in the oly. My time was a pr at the distance and I had a really good run for me which was a pr too! I know the cooler temps helped, but it gives me hope my run is heading in the right direction! :) Happy!

  • Comments: Actually for 3D I thought this was a good race. Everything was organized - they had plenty of volunteers and they actually had a pre-race meeting to explain the course, which is the first 3D race I've done where they've bothered to do that. I was nice that they had the jetski run the swim course first to show it to us. I thought that having the 2 transition areas would be worse than it was - worked out pretty well and they had our T1 bags all waiting for us. Overall, I'm pleased with the time. My unspoken goal was 2:30, but when I saw that I wasn't going to hit that I vowed to come in under 2:40 and I did that, so I'm happy. I wish the swim had gone better, but hey, you deal with the circumstances and can only blame myself for not pushing through that segment better.

  • Comments: This is my first race since moving here, and I'm really disappointed. The volunteers are terse, the amenities are minimal for the money, and the information is inaccurate/changing/unavailable. For a race that required no police presence or closed streets with 650+ participants, I'm not sure what happened to my money. My Tshirt is probably the poorest quality race shirt I've recieved in years, that log jam for water post race, the bag that wasn't big enough to hold gear...It wasn't bad, just sort of startling, especially the part where I was snipped at by two different volunteers for doing nothing more than asking a question (chip table and gear bag return). Was this a particularly stressful event for 3D? The gentlemen doing the announcing was less than pleasant. At the same time, athletes weren't listening. Many people trying to get their gear out of T2 before they were supposed to. HOwever, 3D could solve that by actually posting volunteers at the entrances. No one ever checked my number

  • Comments: The 2 separate transition areas were interesting. I think it would be worth trying to find a solution to condense this to only 1 tranisiton area. A few more volunteers might make the lines for registration and timing chips a bit shorter. Otherwise, a well executed race in a very nice location!

  • Comments: Good, fun race. Beautiful Detroit/Windsor location, clean, clear water and flat & fast bike. Run is made more challenging by 3/4 mile (X2 for OLY distance) paved trail run that is VERY uneven and somewhat treacherous.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this for a first time event. It's my birthplace and for me, there were no issues that would prevent me from coming back. Can it get better? Sure. Great race Jersey and medal and a low price for admission. The swim was a monster that I won't soon forget. Makes it all the more memorable though.

  • Comments: Only gripes were the lack of buoys on the swim and mile markers on the run. Other than that, the event was fantastic, and I will definitly be back next year.
