  • Comments: This was an awesome race in a great location. Swim and run courses were great. The bike was fast, however there are way too many turns and really rough patches of asphalt along the course to get a comfortable pace going. I really enjoyed this race and will definitely be back again.

  • Comments: 2015 Tri-Rock San Diego. Had read reports on here saying it was a little lacking compared to other events. Transition area talk said same thing and that way fewer entrants than the glory days. Oh well. Still big turnout ~1300 people total. It was only my second tri and this one was bigger and a little more stressful than the first one. Perfect cause I need that. I thought the road conditions were pretty rough. Overall it was a good event for me to attend but could see how the more experienced would find it less than stellar.

  • Comments: Despite some disappointments (course measured 9:03 run pace, seventeen seconds over an hour on the bike) and sloppiness (bike cornering, leaving things in my transition bag), I had a fantastic race. Sometimes, without having the perspective of how I performed next to everyone else, I have a tendency to be too critical. When I saw the results, I felt great – 24th overall on the bike, top 25% overall, top half of the run, and 16th out of 44 in the age group. These are great numbers for me. I even figured out why I may not have gotten set up properly. I usually have everything in my bag, organized, and ready to lay out. However, for this event, I had a mile to walk to get there, so I wore my running shoes. I removed them in transition and placed them next to my bike shoes, neglecting to pull out the race belt and hat that are normally stuffed inside them. Silly mistake that I can laugh about now. The work over the spring and summer have certainly paid off, but it is now back to training

  • Comments: The improvements at this race made a world of difference. I attended the Malibu Triathlon the following week and the expo was amazing! The Malibu Tri had Food trucks, hair cuts from Paul Mitchell, massages, and lots of raffles. You can't throw a stick in San Diego without hitting a triathlete so I would expect a bigger expo. But then again there was a big tri prior so maybe the vendors attend that one instead of the Rock n Roll series.

  • Comments: Tri Rock cant help that San Diego is Broke so they cant fix all the holes in their streets. It was overall a good event. I dont plan on signing up next year. The timing of this event (at the end of the summer) is bad for me. Its too hot to train here during the summer. I need to make my "Season" between October and June. Maybe that way I wont be fighting the heat when I train.

  • Comments: I had high expectations for this race. I may have been too into my own little world but I was not impressed. The bike course is bad, that street is rough. The swag bag was less than what I get at our small local race. I will do it next year for two reasons, the half off discount and to compare my times. But after that I may try the Classic Tri in San Diego. By the time I finished there was nothing going on and the food was gone too.
