  • Comments: I finished 1st in 40+ Clydesdales. I think there were 3 in my group and 6 total clydesdales racing. I barely lost to the under 40 Clyde. I raced last year and was 2 mins slower than last. I compared last years and this years race. I swam longer in this race and the bike was about a half mile longer. So I guess I am about the same. I am not too terribly worried. I do have a big 2013 year and going to be well prepared. My 1st place is a bittersweet victory because my 19 yr stepdaughter had a major surgery removing a tumor from her spine and rib area. She had to have 2 major surgeries and is in major pain. She is one tough woman and more than very proud of her. She was constantly on my mind during the entire race.

  • Comments: I will do this race again. I hope the hiccups are worked out, and that maybe they choose to have it later so the lake could be warmer.

  • Comments: This was HITS 1st race. There were a bunch of blunders BUT what do you expect when its the first race. The Race Director was shouting instructions did not use a bullhorn. He used a whistle to start the race. There was no real markings for the start of the swim portion. The bike portion was not marked. There wasnt a lot of aid stations. The results did not produce a run time and it didnt tell how you did in your age/division. Lastly, my g/f was watching the swim and there were a few panic attacks. There weren't enough lifeguards. Triathetes had to stop and help they people. It got desparate enough that another spectator asked a HITS person what they were going to do and let a person drown, so that HITS person jumped in the water to help save the person. It was choatic. I am sure they will get it right. Overall, I am still glad that I did the triathlon. I got 3rd in my age group and would love to return to this race!
