  • Comments: Considering the storm that happened mid race. The amount of volunteers and staff that stayed out on the stations especially on the bike during the bad stuff. this was a great race. The distance is almost perfect. Even with the weather I had a blast can't wait till the next one.

  • Comments: Well I did it, I placed squarely MOP, accomplishing a goal for my all races this year, 3 more to go. I sure would like to do this race on a nice sunny cool day with normal winds, maybe next year!

  • Comments: This was a fun race; I pushed fairly hard but didn't come in all wrecked, and I was ready to train again the next day. That was my aim with this first race of the season. I wanted to see if my swim has improved (it has), I wanted to evaluate my bike fitness (hard to tell, as that was a new course), and I wanted to make sure I could run 6 miles without re-injuring my calf. On the swim, what a difference a year and some master's classes makes! Last year in my first race I was absolutely freaked out looking at the 400 yard sprint course and had to backstroke to calm down and breathe at one point. This year I pretty much plugged away...I had time to think about my navigating, fellow swimmers, how my stroke looked, and even looked at my watch to try and estimate my time. On the bike I had some lower back pain that had me standing up and trying to straighten my waist periodically, which basically made me look like I was trying to hump my stem. I'm sure I looked odd. I hope/think this

  • Comments: Another very well run race by Fred Sommers. The weather cooperated and was beautiful even a little hot by the time we hit the run course. It was a good weekend of training, I rode some hills on Saturday that I haven't done in in several months. I also got a chance to visit & swim at the National Training Center, a great facility for triathlon training.

  • Comments: This was a PR for me at this distance!! I enrolled with a personal coach/coaching program in my city this winter. It has been very beneficial to my performance and understanding of my body and it's limits. His direction; specifically spin classes and lots of long bricks along with cycling instruction were instrumental in this race performance. I have lots of work left to do but I'm headed in the right direction. My run was much stronger than ever due to this increase in training.
