Race Reports for Spin off Spadina Triathlon - Olympic Distance 2007

Comments: The lake had really warmed up, but the weeds were out of control. I was surprised at the strong smell/taste of the boat exhaust along the first stretch of the course. There were rumors of leeches in the water/on people after the race. I’m glad I didn't hear about this before or my mind would have been wondering more than usual, but I may have had a faster time being motivated to get the heck out of the lake. Also, the course was supposedly measured 350 meters too long. I was and still am dissapointed about not getting to finish, but the race director made the right call because the weather was getting dangerous. The awards banquet/BBQ was good, I won $40 from the random cash envelops, thanks Terry for bring this to my attention, I owe you a coffee.

News of a strike in Alberta on Saturday that killed one person and injured six others was top of mind when the decision was made."As we were debating this, three-quarters of the way through the race, there was a lightning strike right over our heads in the parking lot," said race director John Rayner. "That made up our minds. We said, 'OK, this race is done right now.'
