  • Organised?No
  • Events on time?Yes

  • Lots of volunteers to help?No
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities? Average
  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: A beautiful course and extremely challenging. I've seen better organization though. Not a lot of direction as to how to get to T1 and back there after race was over. Awards were nice-clay pot made by local artist.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: It was hard to find the lake and hard to access. Not much time was left to get there either. The mass start was fine, and the buoys were too far apart. Thank goodness there was a metal canoe at the front of the swimmers to sight off of. The trail was not well marked, since it was chalk and much of the trail was powder. Many people got lost. The water stops were fine and evenly spaced, although one of them had water that smelled like it came from the lake. USAT rule infractions: 1) Turns are supposed to be clearly marked or aided by volunteers. The trail was bad, the run start was not completely clear, and I almost went too far at the bike turnaround because the volunteers didn't know what was going on. The finish line was also not clearly marked or labeled. 2) There should be a med-tent at the finish. NOONE knew of any med, let alone med supplies, for me to bandage up my legs. They said the meds were out on the course, but there should have been one at the finish, especially considering

  • Comments: The atmosphere was unlike my other two races. At the finish people seemed more irritated than fired up, and it seemed that most headed out as soon as they were done. The race itself was pretty unorganized. But, I’m still really glad that I finished!

  • Comments: The big things that drops this race are the run course marking, which was sketchy in the beginning and almost totally gone when the back of the packers came through. Several people got lost and the race officials didn't seem to care. The post race activities ere a disappointment. This was a very hard Olympic distnace race in a hot dry climate and there was little food and no sports drink, just warm water and not enough of that. Many people just left, the rest of us fended for ourselves. It's too bad, the trophies were beautiful hand made Navajo vases and the course itself was beautiful. Despite the poor operation this year I will still consider doing it again next year.
