  • Comments: No race numbers. That was terrific. One less thing to worry about in T2, and really unnecessary when everyone is properly body marked. Not much support on the course. There were volunteers stationed at the turn around on the bike, but no where else on the bike. One volunteer at the 1.5 mile point on the run, and he was overwhelmed. I could tell he felt really bad that he didn't have anything to give us BOPers something to drink. But the ice was good. Just bananas and bagels after the race. That is fine by me. I usually eat a banana after the race, but I didn't want to bother with any other food. There were probably drinks, but I didn't look for them. No finishers medals, so that will make the haters happy. And I'm fine with them or without them. Overall, it was a nice race. Everyone was friendly. But it was definitely a no frills race.

  • Comments: On This Particular Event: I did not like the serpentine swim, and there were basically no after race activities at all. Most people left right away, and it took a long time before the award ceremony. My disappointing race aside, I am not sure if I would do this event again. It is also risky doing an outdoor tri in Kansas in April, so I'm not sure I would do that again either. On My First Tri: Yes, I did complete my first triathlon today, but I do not find satisfaction in that. Completing a triathlon which I start is something I expect of myself, not a goal. As such, more important than finishing the race, to me, is the manner in which it was run. That does not mean simply whether I won or lost, but whether I peformed and conducted myself in the best possible way. It is in that regard, that I am rather disappointed today. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, triathlon is an incredible sport, and it is an honor to join the ranks of that remarkable group of people known

  • Comments: Very good race. There is always a lot of Wichita people at this race. Good early season race! I just hope a couple of guys had awesome races and I had an ok race. The only thing that saved me this year was the fact that I'm in 30-34 now. In 25-29 I would have gotten second. The guy that won that age-group is a new member of the tri club and I can see we will be training a lot together in the future. He is an awesome person and an awesome triathlete! JUNE 15th......

  • Comments: I was quite happy with the organization. The race did start about 15 minutes late and for no apparent reason. But they had plenty of volunteers, and everywhere they needed to be.

  • Comments: Fun race! Everyone is very helpful and nice, and the participants are all low key too. It would've been nice to get our transition times. There were no bib numbers which I felt strange about. The transition area was open to anyone which made for annoying onlookers standing around when you were trying to get in and out. It would've been nice to have more water stations, at least one at transtion out for the run. The Emporia Track Team volunteered and were helpful with directions, but there was only one aid station on the run. The results were done quickly and it was easy to get in and out of the area which is always nice. The awards were cool, they were picture frames, where each winner gets to go online and get a free race picture. All in all, if you just have fun at this race and/or it's your first Tri, it's a really fun time. Thanks to them for putting it on, I'll be back.
