  • Comments: Get rid of snake swim. Instead have lane assignments and have swim done in same lane. Avoids problem of slow swimmers seeding themselves as faster swimmers. With a volunteer on each lane, they track completed laps. I have done this at other pool swim triathlons and it works great. Set up lane assignments based on estimated time to complete 300. Use past results at race to audit estimated times on lane assignments.

  • Comments: Good race to open the season. The weather was awesome: 77F, sunny, and little wind. Problems with timing system and posting results have delayed awards ceremony. Many contestants including age group winners left early. This small event could attract more contestants if better organized and advertised. There are very few races at this time of a year in the Midwest and in Indiana the weather usually cooperates.

  • Comments: Cool having a course on campus. Interesting mix of seasoned athletes and noobs, not a big group of MOPers. Good race, it will be interesting to see if they can grow it.

  • Comments: I am definitely hooked into triathlon after last year and could not wait to find a first opportunity to race. Even though Muncie is far from Gurnee, it was not a problem to drive over 4 hours just to experience a new adventure in a place I have never been before. This was first time Ball State University organized triathlon. There was not enough info either on web page or at the event. Little chaotic in the beginning at the pool, but overall nice. There is room for improvement.
