  • Comments: This is the Tri that started it all for me 4 seasons ago. It is close to home and I will probably keep doing it. However it is just too big. Also much of the race from body marking, to the start, to the bike, was (barely) organized chaos. This was the second race in a row where Midwest Sports has not been on top of their game. I was 5 minutes slower than last year and based on the wind and my performances this year, this was not a surprise. Best part was seeing all my friends. Great to see BunnyT (congrats on your first.) Joe Runner, Cweninger, Sgoehner, Amyjotris, Firstnet911 (jockstrapping) and DjDavey (troublemaking) and my non-BT friend Kyle...and of COURSE I saw Scoobysdad!! I, however did not see Charles Benson.

  • Comments: Honestly, if the course wasn't so appealing and the venue right outside my back door. I'd really consider not doing this race anymore. Over the years, it's gotten so crowded, and the number of novice racers it attracts has made it downright dangerous on the bike leg. I swear, it was like they told the slowest riders to ride as far to the left as possible and I had to take a number of chances just to maintain my pace while passing people. In addition, organizers really need to secure the transition area and make sure racers are matched to a bike number when leaving transition after the race. As an additional flaw this year, they didn't have any mileage markers on the course. If I hadn't already known the course so well, I wouldn't have had a clue where I was throughout the race.

  • Comments: What a great way to celebrate life. This was more than just a race for me (see my blog from Saturday). I'm very humbled by all the great people I've met!

  • Comments: Probably would not do this race again for a couple of reasons. Very unsecure transition area and way to many people for the amount of space they had. Not enough porta potties and I was not happy I had to start this race out running. Would have rather gone swimming. Of course had a blast with all the BTers.
