  • Comments: I totally underestimated what it would require to race an Olympic and I blew it. The run course being soft sand would have probably been a problem for me no matter what but all in all I stunk this up. Have jumped right back in and started training (yes, actually training!) for the Pine Barrens Olympic on September 12.

  • Comments: I will not do this race again. It is 1 1/2 hours away and I had to leave home at 4 AM to get there with a comfortable amount of time to pick up packet, get set up and be ready for race meeting. The location of transition in relation to registration, port-o-johns and swim start was poor, especially given all of the rocky dirt roads we had to walk on - I was glad to have rugged crocs to walk in. The bike course did not have any bathroom opportunities and although you passed water one each loop, they were only offering tiny water bottles. I had enough fluids, but may have needed more if it had been a hot day. The water quality was fine for the swim, but the start was too crowded and too close to the first turn. The bike course was a good course with shade, mostly flat and little traffic, making it open for fast times. The run course was listed as flat, packed trail, but it had a lot of loose sandy areas, making it a slow course and harder to run on. Although there were enough
