  • Comments: Feeling a little bit more confident about the IM given that I was able to push hard on the bike here and still feel good on the run. Hopefully my knees can hold up for the big day. This race was great, though. The weather was perfect and I feel like I really gave my all out there. Other than some walking on the run, everything I did was done hard and executed well.

  • Comments: Race was great. Volunteers were great. Post race was not one of Pirahna best shows IMO. Food was ok at best (small hoagies, water, coke, diet coke, pretzel and fruit chew packs..that's it) and they were breaking down at around the 6hr mark (race time) and there was no soda/water left by the 7hr mark (possible that they still had water at finish line but not in food tent).

  • Comments: I am thrilled. 150% glad I went for it. I am extremely happy with my times, especially given that I didn't train for this. I could have just gone back to State College Friday after I found out Patriot's was cancelled and I would have never known the difference. I stayed and met a bunch of great people, and made a great new friend in the process of the entire weekend. I shocked the heck out of myself and days later am still in total disbelief. I'm capable of far more than I think I am. I've often said my ability to perform is rarely physical, and for me is rooted in winning mentally. Despite the collapse in the run, overall I won mentally out there, which is what did it. Outstanding race and I am so grateful.

  • Comments: The course was good, and the race was fun. However, for a 1st HIM, I wanted a little more out of it. I am not into race swag at all, but the t-shirt, finisher's dog tag, post race food, were just plain lame. Nothing even said HIM? Not that important, but whatever, I wanted a lil love. I would be very weary of doing another Piranha event in the future due to the lack of organization and foresight. From the race director originally cutting the bike from 56 to 39 miles because of bridge work (luckily he was able to magically pull it off by simply having a few turn arounds), to the lack of bathrooms, and overall disorganized feeling, I didn't like it. Also, the environmentalist in me really didnt like that the water bottle "exchange" was just a place where they gave you a disposable Poland spring bottle. I was expecting an actual exchange, where they give you a full, re-usable bottle at the beginning, and you exchange it on the bike. Oh well.

  • Comments: After some confusion where the bike course was going to be shortened, race director was able to work with police/county to get the full distance back. they did run out of water on the bike leg for some racers though. need more volunteers, but they've advertised for that. next year, perhaps I'll help instead of race...but for a first timer, this was a great HIM to start with!

  • Comments: Piranha gets a B- for me today. Aid stations were runing out of stuff when I was going through, and there were lots of people behind me. I'm pretty sure some people got screwed on the bike if they were counting on bottle exchange. Lots of little things could be done much more efficiently in Piranha events... but overall, a decent race at a great venue.
