  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Like I said, I gained a lot and that's what these events are about. Despite the conditions, I had fun thanks to being able to ride it with a friend. It felt like good preparation for IMWI, I am far better equipped to deal with bad weather.

  • Comments: This is really a pretty good event, altogether. I’ve got a bit of an issue with the way the bikes are loaded and unloaded, since I don’t think they’re always as careful as they could or should be, but in general, the route is good, the rest stops are fine (though, in retrospect, it would be nice in the future if, when conditions warrant, they were able to provide shelter, heaters or hot food/drinks. I think there was a serious risk of hypothermia for people who weren’t prepared for the conditions and there was really nowhere for them to go to get out of the rain and cold. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d do this ride again. But not if it’s raining.

  • Comments: Very well organized event. I'd do it again. It's kind of a bummer that you spend almost as much time on the train (1.5 hours to Babylon, and 3 hours or so home from Montauk), but it's a great ride, great scenery. The rest stops are well stocked and well run. Good mix of people from very experienced riders to newbies. Oh--and the drivers were INCREDIBLY polite. In many cases, they would cross double yellow lines into the opposite lane to give us plenty of room when they passed us, even if we were in the bike lane or on the shoulder. I can't think of a single incident when a driver was anything but courteous. That was cool.

  • Comments: I'd definitely recommend this ride. Very scenic, good support, good food at aid stations, and a full meal with massage, showers at the finish.
