  • Comments: Even with a tough swim this was a great race for me. It was An even better training day and real confidence builder for LP. I bettered last year's time by 44 minutes, 31:30 on the bike and 26:20 on the run offest obviously, by the 12 minutes lost on the swim. To me that was an anomaly. Clearly, I'm way ahead of where I was and this makes me believe I'm positioned well to handle the training ahead and then enjoy Ironman USA! As for this event, Harriman is about the challenge, especially this early in the season. It's low key and could prolly use some more volunteers but it's not about the frills. Given it's proximty it will be an annual race for me. Next year I can shoot for 6 hours. Tho if the water is sub 60 I'm doing the mini ;)

  • Comments: The course is very tough, but fair. The race is well-run, though they might have been prepared with the pizza a little earlier.

  • Comments: It was tough to really judge this race bc of the conditions. Nobody really hung out after. I did have a cold one with Mark (Rollinbones) and JohnnyKay after the race which was nice. Thank you to all of the volunteers that gave up their Saturday to watch us idiots run around in the freezing cold in our underware.

  • Comments: RD & volunteers did a great job in nasty conditions. The course is very tough, but fair. I'd like to think I'd be willing to give it a shot again, but perhaps the "mini" would be a better option next time.

  • Comments: Genesis Adnentures puts on a very good race. Harriman is a an awesome, challenging venue on a good day. This early in the season and these conditions made it quite the undertaking. Despite it all I enjoyed the event. Once again I met some great new people and got to hang w/ some BTer's. This will go a long way towards improving my time at Timberman, my ultimate goal for this season. I'm sure I'll be better for having had done it. But man, during it, I was really tested. Mentally and physically this was the hardest thing I've ever done. Initally I was not happy with my performance but in retrospect I had those small victories during it and in a field where roughly 25% of the entrants DNF'd I'm very happy that I perservered. My love/hate realtionship with Harriman continues. I'll be back next year (most likely for the mini) ;)
