  • Comments: I loved this race. It's a challenge and next year it will be my A race. Maybe with a year of training and racing smart, I hope to have a chance at breaking 5.

  • Comments: This is a good race. Set Up does a good job. The course is really tough, both the bike and run (HILLS)... it is a good challenge. The race was moved back two weeks later this year to try and avoid the heat. We only got heat on the run...but the rain in the early part was interesting. The volunteers at the aid stations during the run were awesome...they had a system worked out and I think everyone got what they wanted very quickly. I like this race. It's close to home, so I will probably do it again.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race. Setup is a great company and I've enjoyed every race I've attended or raced. This course just didn't sync well with my first full year of training and I know I will do sub-6 at eagleman. I'm VERY happy and proud of myself for getting this done and really look forward to next year! One thing I did was wrote on my hands to keep moving. I never stopped moving. Ever. Drinking, walking, etc. Didn't stop moving.

  • Comments: Neat stuff at www.humanvelocity.com: Came out of the water in 25th place in my AG. Made up 7 (!) places in transition with no one passing me. Made up 14 places on the bike with no one passing me again. Made up another place in T2 to move me into fourth which I held over the run. That's neat.

  • Comments: The race was very well run. All of the volunteers were great. I felt so sorry for the volunteers - especially the ones out on the bike course. There were kids out in the middle of no where in that heat to signal our turns.

  • Comments: This was my second HIM and the most challenging race I have done during my 2 short seasons of triathlon. I have mixed feelings about this race. I finished, I beat my GCT HIM time, but I didn't meet my time goal. I found out that I can swim in choppy waters, ride in strong headwinds/crosswinds on a hilly course, and eat during the run. It was a humbling race after coming off strong finishes at NYC and PTC. Probably a good thing going into the off-season to let me know that I still have a lot of work to do. Riding with tribesman to Raleigh made the 7 hour trip bearable and it was cool that our transition areas were next to each other. Although, I only saw him before and after the race. Guess I'll have to wait until next year to learn how to play that trick on him. Anyway, thanks tribesman for all your training help and tips. You really do inspire me to become a better triathlete.

  • Comments: There were 175 volunteers for 500 participants, or approximately .35 volunteers each. I hate to tell you, but I think I used other peoples volunteers to serve my drinks on the run course.

  • Comments: The whole race beat me bad in 2005. The run beat me bad in 2006. I call this year a draw. My swim was 30 seconds faster than last year. (fastest swim in a 1/2 yet) My ride was 14 minutes slower, but not quite as slow as 2005 and definately not at the 2005 level of pain (Please God, get me off this bike). My run was 34 minutes faster that last year and almost 25 minutes faster than White Lake this year (7 minutes faster than White Lake in 2006). My overall time was almost 22 minutes faster. (That's nothing compared to 2005.) I guess I would take the slower bike to finish that much faster. I beat White Lake 2007 by almost 11 minutes. If I put this run on White Lake, I am well under 6 hours. Probably the most important thing I learned is that I can do this length race well without gels. All I took on the bike was slightly more than 2 bottles of Infinit Iron man mix. Goal was 1 bottle an hour, but I took closer to 2 1/3 bottles. I had water for the ecaps. Other than that,

  • Comments: I am thrilled with this race! I'm thrilled that I completed a half ironman distance on a very hard course and felt as good as I did at the end. Energy issues can be dealt with. I had a ton of fun! I look forward to the challenge of this course next year! :-)

  • Comments: Overall, this was a great race for me. I came into it without any super big expectations. Of course I wanted to PR, but people told me that this course was super hard, and that times were often much slower than those on other, less difficult courses. Also, I knew that I only had a "recovery week" as a psudo-taper, and that I needed to race this such that it would be beneficial to my IMFL preparations. In spite of that all, I still had a personal best today, and even got out for an hour bike, post-race! Today was a big mental breakthrough. Afterall, racing if all mental--you put the hard physical hours in long before race day... and on race day, you have to make your mind believe that you can do what your body is capable of. And sometimes you even need to bullshit your body! :) I'm excited to enter the next 8 weeks of training. I know that if I put some quality time in over the next few weeks, I will have a great taper, and hopefully, a very satisfying and successful race on November 4t

  • Comments: Set up puts on a good race. They could have used ice up on the run course to cool the water and Cytomax. Other than that, good day. I rated the race as a good one because I cut 35 minutes off last year, even though I had the leg issues. Any time I can get faster from one year to the next, that's a good race. If I can figure out the leg issues, next year will be a great race.

  • Comments: will do this one again just to do better. I used the beginner to 1/2 training plan and it did get me across the finish line, but I need to move to another plan to get to my goal of under 6 hours.

  • Comments: Once again...great race, even better company. Y'all have to check out Christian. You won't freaking recognize him. :) Got to see Tom and Shannon cross the line! Shannon we could see coming a mile away with her ponytail swinging. And Tom has this stride that looks like he can keep up all day long. GREAT RACE SHANNON AND TOM!!!!
