  • Comments: The best move I made for this race was stepping down from the full Mary to the 1/2 about 3 weeks before. I could not have done a full with my lack of training and then minor health issues. My heart was not in the race, so I went at it like a long training day with friends. Overall I had a good time, just not a good race. Notes: At the end of my first lap, I was passed by the winner of the 1/2 mary, humbling. At about mile 11 on my second lap, I started getting passed by what would end up being about 20 finishers of the full mary, again, humbling. I could have approached this race with the " I will not walk" mentality, but I think I learned more by pushing to see what my current fitness level could do for me instead. This race has helped me hone my approach for next seasons run empahisis kind of year, so all was not a loss. Glad to have had a good time in general, and glad the long running is over so I can enjoy my "off season " for a few weeks.

  • Comments: Excellent race. VERY well run and organized. Fantastic volunteers at the water stations, and everywhere! I don't know how these races get so many fantastic people out there to help out! I'm always amazed! I remember the spread at the end of the half last year (same race - but the 1/2) being much better. Just soup, bananas, oranges, and rolls this year. Not complaining at all but, remember it as more lavish last year. I'm pretty sure that last year they also had more hoopla at the finish line - they used the big screen of the ballpark and a camera to show people finishing, and announcing names etc... This year, just some music. Again, not complaining.... :-) I didn't stick around for the awards ceremony.

  • Comments: can not write about the post race activities because I was too tired to think about them. Plus DK waited almost 3 hours for me to finish with TAGP. The voulenteers rocked. It seemed that every highschool track team with in 10 miles was manning a station. Porta Johns were a little on the light side as I was caught more than once taking up close and person views of the foliage. My only porta john stop cost me over 2 minutes which I made up in less than 3 miles. Great race and better learning experience.
