  • Comments: Good event. Lots of police support. If you balk at the price understand what that is paying for. They were awesome out on the course and kept us safe. Be able to bike in crowds cause there were lots of them. If I ever ended up alone on the course it was never for long. More aid stations then you could ever hope to have. Which begs the question of why so many men still felt the need to use the bathroom on the side of the road despite all the warnings they were given.

  • Comments: I thought a few things were confusing about the setup of this race. Since it is a fundraising event and donations are solicited during the registration process, it is not completely clear how much the event really costs when you sign up. Check in was a little confusing as well - there was a checklist of things that were supposed to be completed, and the booths that you were expected to stop by weren't labeled very well. The finish was anitclimactic - once the finish is crossed, you hand over your chip and then need to figure out where the finish medals are located. I think that doing a lot of tris that are on a smaller scale has spoiled me a little. While there was a lot of information available, things seemed a little disorganized at times. It is such a large event that it is probably very difficult to manage. Overall, it was okay, but the course was extremely crowded. It made the three loop Soma course look wide open. I found the congestion frustrating, but I am used to riding

  • Comments: I absolutely love riding my bike. I was already online searching for future bike races within hours of returning home from the El Tour finish line. Although I'm not sure that many can beat the atmosphere of this race. El Tour is run very smoothly, the participants are so encouraging and (for the most part) friendly, the volunteers are incredible, the events are well organized, the spectator support is awesome, the scenery is beautiful, and it's just a hell of a lot of fun. I will absolutely do this race again-- without a doubt, my favorite race thus far.

  • Comments: The race was a lot of fun. I wish my body would have held up better, but it happens. It's very pricey so I'm not sure I'll do it again. It's easier on the pocketbook since I don't need to spring for a hotel or food but still costs a lot more than other organized century rides. It was pretty cool to be cruising along and a steady pace and glance back to find someone drafting me. After a few miles, I'd wave them up to take their turn only to find out a group of 20 people were latched on. This happened several times during the ride and made me a little proud each time. It was a good mental boost. The headwinds for the last 40 miles were a killer! I ended up getting with a group for some of them, but for a while I carried a good number of people who told me they were just hanging on and couldn't take a turn at the front. I was totally cool with that since I was just riding my pace but as soon as a group rode by that I was comfortable with, I left the rest behind. I also need apologize

  • Comments: Loved this event!! The city really turns out for the race...will be back for sure. Hopefully next year I can balance El Tour and IMAZ though. That is my only complaint..the weekend it landed on.

  • Comments: There were aid stations every 8-10 miles. Very well stocked, but no sports drink, just water. Lots of fruit, cookies, pretzels. As soon as you came to an aid station, a volunteer would greet and hold your bike for you while you stayed at the aid station. This was fantastic! They had pitchers of water to fill your waterbottles or camelbaks. The aid stations were fantastic!! One of the aid stations at a fire station were cooking pancakes!
